The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (July 6) in regions across the country.
Forecast for the next 12 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move mainly in the Northeast direction at a speed of about 10 km/h, while weakening into a low pressure area and then gradually dissipating and no longer capable of directly affecting the weather in Vietnam.
However, due to the impact of circulation combined with favorable atmospheric conditions, from the evening of July 5 to the morning of July 6, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai and Tuyen Quang provinces had moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 20-50 mm, locally over 130 mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of high-intensity heavy rain, in some places over 100 mm in 3 hours, increasing the risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
In addition, in the evening and night of July 5th, other localities in the North, the area from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30 mm, locally over 70 mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Northern region on the night of July 5 and day of July 6 has scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain; especially the western region on the night of July 5 has moderate rain, heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places. On the night of July 6 and day of July 7, there will continue to be scattered showers and thunderstorms, rain concentrated in the late afternoon and night.
From Thanh Hoa to Hue City: There are showers and thunderstorms in some places, sunny during the day; especially in the late afternoon and evening there are scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Other areas: There are showers and thunderstorms in some places; especially the Central Highlands and Southern regions in the late afternoon and evening with scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
The meteorological agency notes that during thunderstorms nationwide, tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind may appear, people need to closely monitor forecast bulletins to proactively prevent them.
