Tourists planning to visit and travel to the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions in the coming days need to proactively monitor weather developments, because from about September 10 to the end of the night of September 11, many localities are likely to experience moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City, the Central Highlands and the South have common rainfall from 70-150mm/period, locally over 250mm/period. In particular, the risk of heavy rain with intensity over 100mm in 3 hours may affect the sightseeing and movement activities of people and tourists.
From September 12, heavy rain in the Central region is still likely to last and develop complicatedly.
Tourists should limit participating in trekking, mountain climbing, exploring waterfalls, caves or moving through hilly areas, rivers and streams during heavy rain. People with self-sufficient travel schedules need to proactively check the road conditions and weather at the destination and prepare plans to change the itinerary when necessary.
In urban areas and crowded tourist destinations, heavy rain can cause localized flooding, affecting travel. Meanwhile, in mountainous areas, the risk of flash floods and landslides on slopes needs to be especially noted.
The meteorological agency also warned that there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms. Visitors are advised not to shelter from rain under trees, near billboards, power poles or unsafe structures.
For tourists who are planning to explore the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions, regularly updating weather forecasts and flexibly adjusting their itinerary will help their trips be safer in the upcoming heavy rain days.
Warning of heavy rain over 250mm, tourists should limit trekking and moving through mountainous areas.
