According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 8, the midland and Northern Delta regions will still maintain hot weather with common temperatures of 35 - 37 degrees Celsius. However, from the evening and night of the same day, cold air will affect the Northern region, compressing a low pressure trough and causing widespread heavy rain.
During this rain spell, the Northwest region and the North of Tuyen Quang and Phu Tho provinces are forecast to have common rainfall from 50 - 100 mm, some places may exceed 200 mm. The remaining localities in the North, along with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, have rainfall from 20 - 50 mm, locally over 100 mm.
From June 9, rain tends to gradually decrease in the Northeast region but still maintains widespread in the Northwest region.

The appearance of cold air in the middle of June is assessed as quite rare. Under the impact of this air mass, the temperature in the North decreased significantly after many hot days. Forecast in Hanoi, the highest temperature may decrease from 39 - 40 degrees C to about 29 degrees C in the early days of next week. In high mountainous areas such as Sa Pa (Lao Cai), the lowest temperature may drop to 16 - 18 degrees C.
Meanwhile, the Central region continues to be affected by hot weather. From Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern area from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, the common temperature is 35 - 38 degrees Celsius, with some places above 39 degrees Celsius.
From June 9, when cold air moves south, the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh is likely to have showers and thunderstorms, helping to narrow the scope of hot weather. By June 10, the widespread hot weather in the Central region will basically end.
In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, the weak intensity of the Southwest monsoon continues to maintain the characteristic weather pattern of the rainy season. This area has scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, sunny during the day. The highest temperature in the Central Highlands is commonly 31 - 34 degrees Celsius, in the Southern region from 33 - 35 degrees Celsius.
Faced with the risk of heavy rain due to the impact of cold air, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense has requested provinces and cities in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An to proactively deploy response plans, closely monitor weather developments, review areas at risk of flash floods and landslides, and be ready to evacuate people when necessary.
People and tourists are advised to regularly update weather information, proactively arrange suitable travel schedules and be wary of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain that may occur when cold air affects the Northern region in the coming days.
