It is forecast that the cold air mass will continue to move southward, causing the weather in the North to turn cool in the next few days, accompanied by thunderstorms, with locally heavy to very heavy rain.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning, April 22, a cold air mass is pouring down into the North. In the past 24 hours, the Northern region has had light rain in some places, with common temperatures from 25-28 degrees Celsius.

This cold air mass from the North is compressing a low pressure trough with its axis at about 23-26 degrees North latitude and gradually moving southward.

Forecast from the evening of April 22 to April 23, due to the influence of cold air compressing low pressure troughs combined with wind convergence from level 1500m to 5000m, the Northern region will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 20-40mm/24h, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 100mm/24h.

From the evening of April 23 to April 25, the North and Central Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 15-30mm/24h, locally heavy to very heavy rain over 100mm/24h.

Forecast from the night of April 22, cold air will affect the Northeast region, then spread to other places in the Northeast region, some areas of the Northwest region and North Central region. On land, winds will turn Northeast at level 2-3, coastal areas at level 3-4.

From April 23rd, the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa will turn cool, the lowest temperature is commonly from 21-24 degrees, mountainous areas have places below 20 degrees. In Hanoi, from the night of April 22nd to April 23rd, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, then the weather will turn cool with the lowest temperature around 22-24 degrees C.

At sea, from near dawn on April 23, the sea area north of the Gulf of Tonkin will have strong Northeast winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts of level 7, rough seas, waves 1.5-2.5m high.

The meteorological agency warns that from the evening of April 22 to April 23, the North will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally with heavy to very heavy rain. From April 23-24, the North Central region will continue to have showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places; from the evening of April 23 to April 25, the Central Central region will also experience showers and scattered thunderstorms.

In thunderstorms, there is a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, posing risks to agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses and infrastructure works. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas.

In addition, strong winds and large waves at sea can affect the operation of ships and economic activities at sea.

People and tourists going out should bring umbrellas and raincoats to prevent sudden weather changes.
