According to the new weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), Hanoi will enter a period of strong fluctuations from November 17 as strong cold air continues to move south.
In the past 24 hours, the cold air mass has approached the northern border and begun to cause clear weather changes. This is the strongest cold air mass since the beginning of this winter.
From the afternoon and night of November 17, cold air will directly affect the Northeast, including Hanoi. The lowest temperature dropped to 20 degrees Celsius according to NCHMF's forecast, and 17 degrees Celsius according to AccuWeather. The clouds will thicken, the possibility of showers will increase sharply, especially in the afternoon and evening, causing congestion for traffic and outdoor activities.
On November 18, the cold air combined with strong Northeast winds will turn Hanoi cold. Temperature dropped sharply to 15 degrees Celsius, cloudy with scattered light rain. The strong Northeast wind of 5 m/s makes the feeling of cold more obvious, especially at night and early morning.
On November 19, the sky will continue to remain gloomy, with light rain appearing during the morning circulation, the temperature ranging from 14 - 19 degrees Celsius. This is the strongest drop in temperature since the beginning of the season, forecast to last for many days.
Hanoi weather will turn cold with the lowest temperature of 13-15 degrees Celsius, the mountainous areas of the North will have places below 8 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the North will have rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places on November 17-18, due to cold air combined with high-altitude East wind disturbances.
The showers during the peak traffic period on the evening of November 17 could cause local congestion, reduce visibility and increase the risk of slippery.
The sharp drop in temperature and strong winds make the body susceptible to cold, especially the elderly and children. All outdoor events should be limited or a backup plan should be prepared.
In the context of increasing rain and cold forecasts, people and tourists in Hanoi need to closely monitor weather forecasts, proactively bring warm clothes, raincoats and limit traveling far during strong winds or heavy rain.
