As nature-friendly tourism is increasingly popular, trekking continues to affirm its appeal to tourists around the world.

According to the Adventure Travel Trade Association, hiking is currently one of the most popular adventure tourism activities in the world.

Possessing diverse landscapes, from majestic coastlines to pristine mountain ranges, the 5 roads below are the most anticipated destinations for explorers in 2026.

1. Pohorje - Kozjak Trail (Slovenia)

Just officially opened on June 13, Pohorje - Kozjak Trail is a trekking route about 174km long, taking tourists to explore northeastern Slovenia. This is a relatively new destination on the international tourism map.

The entire route is divided into 20 stages, including 10 stages in the Pohorje range and 10 stages in the Kozjak range. The journey will take visitors through primeval forests, Lovrenc mudflats, Black Lake, waterfalls, and ski resorts. The highlight of the route is Črni Vrh peak with an altitude of up to 1,543m.

Not only attractive by its diverse natural scenery, Pohorje - Kozjak Trail also offers the opportunity to explore the Slovenian countryside. Along the way, visitors can visit eco-tourism farms, vineyards, and enjoy local cuisine.

The route is also designed flexibly, suitable for both short day trips and multi-week journeys. In addition, a system of local guesthouses and mountain tents is arranged, helping visitors easily rest throughout the journey.

2. Rocky to Nordegg Rail Trail (Canada)

Located in Alberta province, east of two famous national parks Banff and Jasper, Rocky to Nordegg Rail Trail is a 109km long trekking route developed on the historical Canadian Northern Railway line that served coal transportation and settlers in the early 20th century.

The route takes visitors through northern forests, valleys, wetlands and many previously difficult wilderness areas.

In addition, this place is planned for year-round exploitation with winter activities such as field skiing, snow boots and dog sleds.

Currently, the western section about 50km long starting from Nordegg has opened to welcome visitors, while the remaining items continue to be completed to put the entire route into operation soon.

3. King Charles III England Coast Path (England)

King Charles III England Coast Path was named after King Charles III on the occasion of his coronation in 2023. The route was completed earlier this year and became the longest managed coastal route in the world.

With a length of over 4,300km, the route starts and ends in the Scottish border area. The route encircles the entire coast of England, passing through beaches, fishing villages, estuary, farms, bays, castles and majestic cliffs.

The journey also takes visitors through many famous coastal cities such as Brighton, Portsmouth or Southampton. In northwestern England, pedestrians can also connect with the historic Hadrian's Wall Path.

4. East Mallorca GR-226 (Spain)

Completed in January 2026, GR-226 is considered an ideal choice for tourists who want to combine trekking with beach vacation.

The route stretches 100km along the northeast of Mallorca Island, divided into 4 sections with a length of about 25km per day. The terrain of the route is relatively easy, the highest altitude is only about 248m.

Starting from the coastal town of Cales de Mallorca, the route passes through vineyards, farms and ancient villages before returning to the coast. On the journey, visitors have the opportunity to visit the Bellpuig monastery from the 13th century and the Ses Païsses archaeological site dating back about 3,000 years.

5. Dongseo Trail (Korea)

Considered the "Camino de Santiago of Korea" pilgrimage route, Dongseo Trail will become the first cross-country trekking route of this country when completed in the future.

Currently, more than 70% of the road length has been completed and many sections have opened to welcome visitors. The road is designed by the Korea Forest Service, connecting the west coast with the east coast of the country.

On a journey of nearly 850km, visitors will pass through the Baekdu-daegan mountains, along with a series of beaches, rice fields, villages, primeval forests, UNESCO world heritage sites and thousand-year-old Buddhist temples.

With its large scale and diverse landscape, Dongseo Trail is expected to become one of the new iconic trekking routes of Asia in the coming years.
