This unique star fruit tree was discovered by Mr. Nhan by chance during a business trip to the countryside. When he asked the homeowner to come in and look at the star fruit tree, Mr. Nhan was quite surprised to see that on the same tree there were 19 large and small trunks next to each other.
“As a bonsai enthusiast, I have seen many ancient star fruit trees, but a star fruit tree with a long root system and 19 trunks like this is very rare. Therefore, I discussed and offered to buy this unique star fruit tree,” Mr. Nhan recounted.
However, because this was the star fruit tree that belonged to his father-in-law, the homeowner did not want to sell it. Accordingly, Mr. Nhan had to go to the house to ask 5 times before the homeowner agreed to give it up and hoped that he would take care of and fix it so that the star fruit tree would become more and more beautiful.
After transporting the star fruit tree home to style, Mr. Nhan looked at it and saw that the roots and long trunks of the tree looked like a boat. From there, he had the idea of hiring a worker to make a pot shaped like a canoe to plant the star fruit tree in.
“Planting trees in a canoe not only matches the natural appearance of the star fruit tree but also reflects the characteristics of the river delta region,” Mr. Nhan excitedly said.
Since buying the star fruit tree, Mr. Nhan has had many people from other provinces and cities come to ask to buy it. However, he is determined to keep it.
“People from Vinh Long, Tien Giang, Long An, Ca Mau, and even Khanh Hoa have come to buy my star fruit tree because of its unique features. Finding a unique star fruit tree like this is not easy, so I want to take care of it to make it a beautiful work of art to enjoy,” Mr. Nhan shared about his passion for bonsai.
Currently, this unique 19-trunk star fruit tree is being cared for and shaped by Mr. Nhan. It is expected that it will take about 5 years for the tree’s shape to be completed. During that process, Mr. Nhan prioritizes preserving the tree’s inherent unique features.
