The star fruit tree has "1-0-2"
In the Tam Buu Tu relic site (Tam Buu pagoda) located at the foot of Tuong mountain - one of the 7 sacred mountains of That Son range - there is a very special star fruit tree. Especially not only because it belongs to the ancient tree, but also because the person who planted it and the posterity consider it as the parish of the Four An Hieu Nghia Buddhists (TAHN).
Although no one has yet discovered any written documents recording the planting of this star fruit tree, according to the truyen hinh in the daily newspaper, it was the patriotic artist and founder of TAHN who directly planted it.
According to the official historical records of An Giang province, Mr. Ngo Loi initiated TAHN around 1867. He then chose the land at the foot of Tuong Mountain, now Ba Chuc Commune (new An Giang Province), to establish 4 villages: An Dinh, An Hoa, An Thanh, An Lap to propagate religion and serve as a basis for fighting against French invasion.
To create a spiritual and spiritual support for the people, he and his followers built many temples and pagodas, including the Three Gorges Dam. First built in 1882, Tam Buu is considered the main pagoda of the monkhood.
According to the truyenges of the Banh Ganh - who, on behalf of the monk, took care of the spiritual work of a group of believers - after completing the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, Mr. Ngo Loi planted many medicinal plants in the pagoda grounds.
After historical changes, now there is only one star fruit tree left. Although the time data between the rumors is slightly different when some people think that the star fruit tree was planted after the pagoda was completed, around 1882, there is also data that the star fruit tree was planted by the parishioners after a period of completing the pagoda, around 1889.
But no matter the time frame, all have one thing in common: affirming that the star fruit tree has lived for over a century. Currently, the tree has a trunk that is every meter large, has many nodules on its skin and shows the time when it is usually seen in old trees.
Scalp tree
The star fruit planted by Duc Bon Su belongs to the sour star fruit family. Therefore, followers often go to the wrong side to use it as a medicinal herb in folk remedies for treating common diseases. But according to many heads of the village, that is only an eternal value, hidden within many languageless teachings that the monk passed down to posterity.
Depending on the conditions of fate and basic needs, each person can gather different layers of meaning to reflect and transform into lessons and luggage on the path of Buddha's hand in studying and cultivating. Some people think that the fact that Duc Bon Su planted the star fruit tree is a metaphor for practicing: On the pilgrimage route, you cannot have sex...
Agreeing with this view, Mr. Nguyen Van Ut - Head of the "Hoa Ho Chi Luoc" Festival - said that this is not an improvisation, but is completely well-founded, if compared with the meaning of the star fruit tree that Trang once suggested to Nguyen Binh Khiem in the poem: "That star fruit is too sour that it becomes sour; Lan Du is fragrant and has a constant scent" (Bach Van national language song).
There is also a view that the star fruit tree of the monk is a prophecy calling on believers to maintain pure virtue and be upright in their words if they follow the letter Han-Nom. (I would like to add that the entire text and documents passed down in the TAHN test are all expressed in Han-Nom characters).
Representing this view is Mr. Nguyen Huu Triet - Head of the "Tam Buu Gia" canal. According to Mr. Triet, the word Khe is fromom, which is made from two Chinese words: mu and khiet.
In which, wood means tree (meaning of words) and pure is both to create sound for words and to have pure meanings... Because of the hidden meaning of such a deep meaning, TAHN Buddhists consider and respect the star fruit tree as a parish.
If you have the opportunity to visit That Son area, An Giang province, visitors should visit Phi Lai - Ba Chuc relic site once to see the ancient star fruit tree. The peaceful space and harmony with the majesty of the mountains and forests are always willing to arouse the subconscious to open up the foundation for each person to reflect from the languageless metaphor of ancestors to become lessons to prepare for the journey of goodness in the future.
