On June 9, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on strengthening the management, protection and promotion of the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots.
The document stated that recently, many media outlets have reported serious damage to historical sites and national heritages.
Implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh in the Official Dispatch (No. 4729/VPCP-KGVX dated May 28, 2025) of the Government Office, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has a proposal to send to the People's Committees of provinces and cities.
Accordingly, the People's Committees of localities need to direct competent authorities and lower authorities to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.
The People's Committees of provinces and cities must comply with the international treaties that Vietnam has signed regarding the world's cultural and natural heritage.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also recommends that localities strictly implement the Law on Cultural Heritage and guiding documents for implementation.
Localities review and inventory all relics that have been ranked, supplemented, and completed scientific records of relics.
On the other hand, localities need to develop and promulgate regulations on management, protection, and promotion of the value of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots.
Receiving the above instructions, on the morning of June 11, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee sent a document to departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities of Da Lat and Bao Loc requesting to study the content of the document of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Departments, branches and localities proactively coordinate with relevant agencies and units to implement it to ensure efficiency and compliance with regulations.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a unit to guide the implementation, advise, and propose to the Provincial People's Committee the contents under its authority for timely direction.
Currently, Lam Dong province has 37 ranked relics including 2 special national relics (Cat Tien Archaeological Site and Cat Tien National Park), 18 national relics and 17 provincial relics.
In addition, the locality also has dozens of scenic spots, tourist areas and spots. In particular, many places have been ranked at both the national and local levels.
