On September 6, the Con Dao National Park Management Board said that it had received 5 Nicoba Pigeons from the Con Dao Special Economic Zone (HCMC). Previously, these individuals were notified by the people and transferred to the local authorities according to regulations.
After receiving them, officers of Con Dao National Park checked the overall health of 5 Nicoba P combats (including 1 drum and 4 turtles), and discovered that all 5 individuals were in a state of minor injuries.
During the health care and farming process at Con Dao National Park, visitors can directly admire the splendid beauty and learn more about this precious bird species.
Con Dao National Park will coordinate with the Special Economic Zone Department to release these individuals back into the natural environment after a stable recovery. Thereby, helping to increase the number of individuals in this turtle population; contributing to biodiversity conservation.
According to the representative of Con Dao National Park, the people's actions have sent a strong message of the community's cooperation in protecting wildlife. Cooperation between authorities and local people is a key factor for conservation work to be highly effective. Hopefully, in the coming time, this action will continue to spread, raising awareness in the community, in protecting rare animals.

Nicoba Pigeon species has the scientific name Caloenas nicobarica, belonging to the Pigeon family, distributed in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. This bird stands out with its colorful fur, especially the neck with long, needle-green fur; short, white tail, creating a unique contrast.
This species lives mainly in primeval forests, mangrove forests and small islands; nesting on high trees, laying eggs and hatching. The main food is nuts, fruits, and small insects.
Due to the shrinking living environment and illegal hunting, the number of Nicoba dustburns in the wild is seriously declining, this bird has been included in the list of animals that need to be protected (in the red book of Vietnam and the world).
With a diverse and rich ecosystem, Con Dao is not only a place for many rare species of flora and fauna but also a place for scientists to research and preserve.
