Ganh Da Do - the beauty of million-year-old volcanic rocks by the coast of Quang Ngai

ĐÔNG GIANG |

Quang Ngai - From volcanic lava flows millions of years ago, Ganh Da Do formed a unique geology with a rare red color.

Nestled west of Ba Lang An scenic spot, Dong Son commune (Quang Ngai), Ganh Da Do still retains its almost intact wild beauty.

Right from the first footsteps, visitors are easily attracted by the unique colors of volcanic sedimentary rocks.

Ganh Da Do was formed from volcanic lava flows erupting millions of years ago. Through the process of weathering and erosion by sea waves, the rock layers gradually revealed their characteristic red color, creating a rare terrain.

Local people consider this a precious stone of the Ba Lang An sea area because its color and structure are completely different from the black stone blocks interspersed in the surrounding area.

In the past, this type of stone was once exploited by people to build houses, replacing laterite stone. According to the experience of many elderly people, houses are built of cool red stone in the summer, and in the rainy season they retain warmth. Stone has a very hard, heavy and durable structure.

Along the coast of Mui Ba Lang An, on a length of about 800 m, are red stone strips connecting each other, creating a unique feature that is rarely found anywhere else.

On sunny days, groups of tourists come to Ganh Da Do to take photos and videos. Just standing in the shade of maple trees or stepping onto a rock outstretched to the sea, each frame becomes impressive thanks to the background being rare red stone slabs.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Huong, Nghia Hanh commune, shared that the first time she set foot in Ganh Da Do, she was really surprised by the unique beauty of this place.

Stone color on photos is very eye-catching, seawater is clear and clean. Standing under the shade of trees looking out to the vast sea brings an extremely relaxing feeling. This is definitely an ideal destination for those who love natural beauty," Ms. Huong said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Minh Anh, a tourist from Da Nang, said that she knew about Ganh Da Do through the introduction of friends. What impressed her was not only the unique stone color but also the peacefulness, not yet commercialized.

Sitting on the rocky outcrop listening to the sound of waves crashing, watching the blue sea and the moss-covered rock crevices makes me feel very relaxed. This is a rare place that still retains the original beauty of nature," Ms. Anh shared.

According to local people, the name Ganh Da Do originates from the characteristic color of the coastal stone slabs. This type of stone has a red color similar to laterite - a material that was used by people in the coastal area of Quang Ngai to build houses many years ago.

With nearly 130 km of coastline, Quang Ngai owns many famous scenic spots such as My Khe, Ba Lang An, Ganh Yen, Chau Tan, Sa Huynh and Ly Son special zone... In the trend of green tourism, experiential tourism is increasingly popular, Ganh Da Do is expected to become an attractive destination on the province's tourism map.
