Visit Angkor Wat in the rainy season

The visit to Angkor Wat started with worries, but the journey ended with unforgettable and endless experiences.

From an unforgettable impression of the Angkor Wat temple from a young age, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Trang (40 years old, Lam Dong) always cherishes the day to step foot in this UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Finally, that dream came true; the female tourist even spent 3 out of 5 days in Cambodia just to admire, admire and enjoy the mysterious, ancient beauty of the world's largest temple complex.

Rare peace

Maybe on the day I started high school in grade 3 or 4, I read a text describing the sunset on top of Angkor Wat in textbooks. Just a few sentences and an unclear photo made me extremely impressed, feeling wonderful and vague thinking that I would definitely come here in the future, Ms. Trang happily revealed.

As someone who has traveled to many countries and visited many famous scenic spots in the world, for the female tourist, this trip is more special than other trips. When expressing this plan, people around her and the feedback Ms. Trang received were mostly quite worried.

She explained: Given the current political situation in Cambodia, relatives around me have largely hindered my intention to travel this time. I myself know about that information. However, I have carefully researched and consulted the situation, carefully checked the safety level with the Embassy, made a full schedule and purchased travel insurance."

Siem Reap, for Ms. Trang, is the most famous tourist city in Cambodia with a peaceful atmosphere and hospitality from local people. Therefore, a large security force here protects the safety of tourists.

Ms. Trang visited the Angkor Wat complex in September - the beginning of the rainy season. For her, this is a suitable time to travel to Cambodia because the weather is not too hot, it can easily cause tourists to get tired, and there is more airy space to contemplate and save memorable moments here without too many people.

She said: In Angkor Wat, during the rainy season, there will be a special time when it rains, many green grass and moss grow all over the temples; so it accidentally creates a very mysterious and magical experience for the scenic spot here. We two really want to see the rain through the gate frames of Angkor Wat, but in the end, during the rainy season here, it only rains at night.

A successful trip

Spending 3 days visiting the vast Angkor complex, with hundreds of temples, Ms. Trang still felt that she missed many things. She and her companion mainly spent time visiting the Angkor Wat temple, Ta Prohm temple and was lucky to watch the sunset at Phnom Bakheng temple, Baphuon temple during the rainy season.

Ms. Trang said: As expected, Angkor Wat has left me with a strong but difficult-to-name emotion. Although it was built in the 12th century, I was still surprised to see with my own eyes the scale and sophistication of this project.

The mystery is exuded from the meticulously carved sculptures. From thousands of graceful Apsara dancers to the hundred-meter-long epic scenes that are still sharp after nearly a millennium. That is the proof of the artistic and technical level far exceeding the times.

The next impression of the Vietnamese female tourist was the Ta Prohm temple - widely known to the world through the movie Tomb Raider starring famous actress Angelina Jolie. According to Ms. Trang, although this temple is not as magnificent and brilliant as Angkor Wat, the difference is created by the green space created from many ancient trees.

"The tree grows from the temple roof due to the spread of birds. Giant ancient tree roots grow on the ruined towers, making the temple's architecture even more mysterious, creating a mysterious atmosphere that seems to pass through ancient times.

Late in the afternoon of that day, it rained like a drizzle, gloomy and quiet, with only a few tourists and us. However, I still feel that this experience is so wonderful, Ms. Trang recounted.

For the female tourist, this trip was a great success and was satisfied with everything. Before the trip, Ms. Trang was quite worried, but the experience directly changed her perspective. For Ms. Trang, Siem Reap is extremely peaceful and cute, trees are planted throughout the city, making the air cool, convenient transportation, and regular tuk tuk tuk service.
