At the end of May, traveling by boat from Huong Ly port for about 15 minutes, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters arrived at a small island located in the middle of Thac Ba lake, which borders Tan Huong commune and Mong Son commune, Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province.
On the island, there is a large green grape garden, every tree is fruit-laden. The workers are enthusiastically pruning and removing rotten and small fruits to keep the bunches regular.
Talking to us, agricultural and forestry engineer Dinh Dai Thanh (born in 1987, who worked at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Phuc province) confided that he was passionate about agriculture, and during his work, he studied the models to find his own direction.
In 2023, during a working trip to Yen Bai, realizing that the soil and terrain on Thac Ba Lake were plump, Mr. Thanh boldly invested in growing experimental grapes on a small island.
"At first, only 500 grape trees were planted for testing and brought certain results. After that, I expanded nearly 2,000 trees planted on an area of 1.5 hectares," Mr. Thanh shared.
To help the grape garden develop smoothly, Mr. Thanh has spent more than 3 billion VND to invest in a canteen system with a transparent, sturdy nylon arch roof with an automatic irrigation system.
According to the owner of this grape garden, if the weather is favorable, it will be harvested in about a month with a revenue of hundreds of millions of VND.
Korean grape juice is one of the best grapes in the world with a fairly high selling price, from 350,000 - 500,000 VND/kg. This grape yields large, round fruits, lush green peels, when cooked it has a rich sweetness, a little richness, and a characteristic milk aroma.
Currently, in addition to selling to traders, his family's wineries attract many tourist groups to visit, learn from experience, experience picking grapes and buying products in the garden.
Not only enriching themselves, Shine Muscat farm is currently attracting many regular workers with a stable income of 6 - 8 million VND/month.
Mr. Thanh hopes that in the future, Shine Muscat farm will become a tourism experience destination for many tourists.
