According to Resolution 60 of the 11th Conference of the 12th Central Executive Committee, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to be merged with the two provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong, after which the new city will take the common name of Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City after the merger will have 2 airports, Tan Son Nhat and Con Dao, so people can travel within Ho Chi Minh City by air.
The inner-city route after the merger will be Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao, connecting residents and tourists from the mainland to one of the southern sea and island paradises.
This direct flight route is being operated daily by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. The peak of Con Dao tourism season is in the summer months from March to July.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City has Tan Son Nhat International Airport with three terminals: T1, T2, T3, respectively. T1 and T3 are two terminals serving domestic flights, T2 is the terminal for receiving international flights. Passengers can travel between stations by bus, taxi, and technology car.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau currently has Con Dao airport located in the north-northeast of Con Son island, 14 km from the center of Con Dao town. This airport is small in scale and was once called Co Ong.

Con Dao is 185 km from Vung Tau and 230 km from Ho Chi Minh City. The most suitable time to travel to Con Dao is around March - September every year because the sea is calm and windy and the weather is pleasant, suitable for outdoor activities.
When traveling to Con Dao, visitors should spend about 3 days and 2 nights or more to visit and experience the characteristics of this place.
Con Dao has a variety of spiritual tourism activities from sightseeing, worshiping pagodas, Mausoleums of Vo Thi Sau...) historical tourism to the source (visiting museums, learning about the old Con Dao prison areas) resort tourism at Vietnam's leading resorts, nature tourism (trekking Con Dao National Park, watching sea turtles lay eggs...).

After the merger, another city is also expected to have two airports, Da Nang, with Chu Lai airport (Quang Nam) and Da Nang airport. For the whole province after the merger, there are still two airports, Gia Lai (Phu Cat, Pleiku) or Dak Lak (Buon Ma Thuot, Tuy Hoa) ...
