More than 45 billion VND to restore the stream
Con Son stream is about 5 km long, located between Con Son mountain and Ngu Nhac mountain, flowing to Con Son Lake. Previously, the stream flowed year-round, but recently due to changes in geology, environment, and reduced water sources, the stream is not maintained regularly. The stream has almost no flow in the dry season and only has flow when it rains heavily.
Faced with this situation, on August 12, 2024, the People's Council of Hai Duong province (old), now Hai Phong City, approved the investment policy for the Con Son stream restoration project. The project has a total investment of more than 40.4 billion VND, including items: Building a water supply pumping station; installing a water supply pipeline about 2,500 m long; building 2 upstream dams to serve water supply for the stream and forest fire prevention and fighting, Tran Nguyen Dan temple area, Nguyen Trai temple.
The project also improves the landscape, patches water loss points, dredges mud and sand in the stream bed, plants trees and creates vegetation along the stream... After being restored, it will ensure that the flow of Con Son stream reaches about 100 - 120 liters of water/second.
The project's objective is to preserve the natural landscape, promote and advertise the value of relics; exploit tourism potential and resources, create unique tourism products, attract tourists, and contribute to educating historical and cultural traditions...
According to the Con Son - Kiep Bac Relic Management Board, after a period of construction, the Con Son stream restoration project is expected to be completed in March 2026.
Natural recovery
Recently, inspecting the project progress, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau assigned the Hai Phong Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment Project Management Board to preside over and coordinate with contractors to design, construct, and study and implement a number of solutions to restore the stream to its natural state.
In which, using gravel with appropriate color and size, smooth surface, natural arrangement, limiting use and not revealing concrete mortar; planting trees suitable for soil conditions (not placing pots of trees in the stream bed), arranging trash cans made of materials and colors suitable for the landscape of the area.
Units research solutions to raise water level height in suitable areas, beautiful landscapes, water accumulation, and expand spillway points (adjusting to increase flow flow on streams after completing the embankment dam item under the project).
The construction unit has measures to cover the pipelines and reduce noise at water discharge points. Along with that, research, review, and adjust the architectural design form of the pumping station to ensure harmony and suitability with the natural landscape of Con Son Lake area.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested units to survey and study proposals to supplement the landscape embellishment project within the stream scope, especially the area from Thach Ban Nam Gian (Big Thach Ban) to parking lot No. 2 (referring to some eco-tourism areas, historical sites of other provinces and cities), creating highlights suitable for the natural landscape to serve tourists visiting and worshiping.
At the same time, adding landscape fences in some locations to ensure safety for tourists with materials harmonizing with the relic landscape, maintaining the solemn and peaceful space of the Relic Site.
Coming to the Con Son - Kiep Bac spring festival, tourist Nguyen Truong Giang (Hai An ward, Hai Phong) said: "After 2 years, I am quite surprised by the scenery in the Con Son stream area. The stream is green again, surrounded by trees and flowers vividly in the peaceful space of Con Son Pagoda, which is a complete experience when visiting the relic at the beginning of the year".
