Gian Gura relic site (Nhon Ai commune, Can Tho city) has an area of about 2740m2. This place owns a more than a hundred-year-old Gura tree root, which is considered a typical natural ecological area when traveling to Can Tho.
Coming here, visitors will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the giant primary gừa tree (a type of tree belonging to the Si family) with many intertwined branches, forming a large green dome. The dense system of roots falling to the ground creates a unique and rare scene, likened to "one of a kind".

These days, Gian Gura is not only a simple check-in destination, but also a place for tourists to "heale" and stay away from dust and urban noise.
Ms. Le Phuong (tourist from An Giang province) - shared: "Coming here, I am very surprised that with just one root, the goa tree is divided into many branches. The air and scenery are very cool, like the mountainous area where I live. Especially, although it is not raining, the soil of Gian Goa still has a certain degree of humidity, not barren like other places".
Before becoming a relic site, Gian Gura was once a key revolutionary base thanks to its rugged terrain, associated with two resistance wars against France and the United States.

The information board recorded that there were many meetings to deploy plans, resolutions, and directives of the Party Committee and Provincial Party Committee, where weapons were hidden, gathered, and troops were transferred from Rach Sung and Ba Hiep embankments to the Can Tho River, to cross the Ring Road to attack the US-puppet headquarters in Can Tho town. In particular, from 1961 - 1965, this was the place to open training courses for the inner-city commando team.
When visiting, visitors can see that there are fig branches still imprinted with traces of war. However, thanks to their strong vitality, the branches and leaves are still lush, reaching out to spread shade. This is like the persistent and resilient spirit of the Vietnamese nation during the arduous years of resistance to bring peace to the country as it is today.

Elderly people in the area also tell each other that this place is very spiritual, getting whatever you pray for, so the number of visitors, in addition to tourism, also worship and pray for peace. Talking to us, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoi (Member of the service team at Gian Gua relic site) - said: "The kapok tree is very old, our job is to wipe, clean and support tourists to prepare offerings for worship. I am very proud not only to welcome Vietnamese tourists but also to have many delegations from abroad coming to learn about it".
It is known that in 2013, Can Tho City People's Committee signed Decision No. 1225/QD-UBND ranking Gian Gura as a city-level historical relic. During this time, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment also recognized Gian Gura as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree on June 3, 2013.
