Vietnamese tourists marvel at the "forgotten" wonder in Jordan

Jordan, an Arab country, leaves an unforgettable impression on Vietnamese visitors, especially the ancient Roman architecture that seems to have been "forgotten" by time.

Jordan is a small Arab country in West Asia, stretching from the southern part of the Syrian desert to the Gulf of Aqaba. Despite being located in the heart of the Middle East and facing security challenges from regional conflicts, Jordan is a peaceful country that values the safety of its people. Photo: NVCC
Nguyen Phuong Hang, a tourist from Hanoi, recently traveled to Jordan at the end of August. She commented: “Jordan is a fairly peaceful country. There are very few tourists at this time, so all the tourist attractions are less crowded than usual.”
During her 7 days and 6 nights in Jordan, Phuong Hang visited many monuments across the Arabian country. Notably, the ancient city of Petra is also known by the nickname “Rose City” because of the pink-red color of its stones under the sunlight or “Lost City”. Photo: NVCC
Petra was forgotten for hundreds of years, until it was discovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812. This lost city was recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1985. Photo: NVCC
Narrow Canyon (Siq), a narrow gorge, is the main entrance to the city of Petra, stretching about 1.2 km. The female tourist said: "After passing the 10km long road, the narrow path surrounded by towering cliffs, I was "frozen" for a few seconds in front of the massive structures such as the ancient city of Petra, the treasury, temples, monasteries and 800 stone tombs...". Ms. Phuong Hang experienced the “Petra by night” light show in the ancient city of Petra in the evening, thousands of candles lit up along the entrance gate. Photo: NVCC

The fortress was built in 1184 to 1185 in early Islamic architecture, with the purpose of protecting the country from the attacks of the "Crusaders" from the city of Karak in the south and from the city of Bisan in the west. Ajloun Castle was expanded to its current form in 1214. Photo: NVCC
Jerash, the remaining ancient Roman city in Jordan, reminds Ms. Phuong Hang of the sparkling image of the legendary ancient city of Pompeii in Naples, Italy. It is also the second most attractive tourist destination, after the rose city of Petra, with architecture built 6,500 years ago. Photo: NVCC

The Roman Theatre is a symbol and mark of the prosperity of the Roman Empire. Located in the center of Amman city, this is an important historical relic from the Roman period. The 2,000-year-old theater stands out on the highest hill in Amman with its sloping and sloping architecture, and can accommodate about 6,000 people. Photo: NVCC
