On November 15, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-H&NV), Vietnam National University, Hanoi marked the 30th anniversary of its establishment (1995 - 2025) with the message "Humanistic Tourism - spreading Wings to the West".
The ceremony summarizes the 30-year journey of formation and affirms the prestige of the Faculty of Tourism in the higher education system.
Speaking at the 30th Anniversary of the Faculty's establishment, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung - Head of the Faculty of Tourism Education emphasized: "With the spirit of solidarity, innovation, autonomy, and development, the Faculty of Tourism Education will continue to respect the past, look towards the future, constantly innovate, create and integrate, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Party Congress of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2025-2030 term for the development of the school and the development of Vietnam's tourism industry".
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung shared that on the new journey, the Faculty of Tourism will continue to review and adjust existing training programs in a modern, integrated direction, associated with the development characteristics of Vietnam tourism; strengthen research orientation, especially in postgraduate training, in line with the school's research university model.
The Faculty will develop a team of high-quality lecturers, striving for 100% of their doctoral qualifications, at least one Professor and five Associate Professors, ensuring improved teaching, research and academic management capacity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu affirmed that over the past 30 years of development, the Faculty of Tourismology has become a pioneer brand in training human resources and research on tourism in Vietnam. Accompanying the overall development of the industry, the Faculty of Tourism has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (formerly the General Administration of Tourism).
A typical example is the Prime Minister's certificate of merit in 2022. Recently, at the 2025 Vietnam Tourism Awards Ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism honored the Faculty of Tourism Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities as "Best Tourism Training Facility", demonstrating the department's brilliant achievements over the past three decades.

Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu emphasized that Tourism is increasingly affirming its position as a spearhead industry, shifting from growth in quantity to development in depth, quality and sustainability. To meet the requirements of capacity and scale of the industry, the tourism industry needs 3 to 5 million direct and indirect workers to receive professional training in tourism and related fields.
In the coming period, with the requirement of innovation and application of science and technology in human resource development training clearly stated in Resolution 57 and Resolution 71 of the Politburo, the Faculty of Tourism needs to further promote the achievements. Continue to make efforts in the training and research career of the tourism industry, in line with the national strategic orientation and global context of digital transformation, green tourism, circular economy, smart tourism, application of artificial intelligence in training to develop tourism human resources... - Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu emphasized.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu expressed his belief that, with the spirit of pioneering, creativity and development, the Faculty of Tourism will continue to be a leading center for training and research, contributing significantly to the cause of bringing Vietnam's tourism industry to new heights and sustainably in the new era.


Since 1995, the Faculty of Tourism has continuously expanded its scale. This is the first unit in the country to train a Master's degree in tourism industry (in 2003), open a major in event management at the university level (in 2013) and train a PhD in tourism industry (in 2018), contributing significantly to shaping study tourism as an independent science.
International cooperation activities were promoted from 2013 to 2018, with strategic partners from Germany, Japan, China and neighboring countries in the region.
With a wide international cooperation network and hundreds of prestigious research projects, the Faculty of Tourism Studies contributes to shaping modern tourism knowledge, promoting the sustainable development of the smoke-free industry.
