On the afternoon of August 13, An Giang Provincial Police organized a Conference to implement the Plan of the Inter-sectoral Inspection Team on general review of the entire process and state management work related to waterway transport and tourism activities in the province.
The implementation of the general review aims to comprehensively assess the current state management of waterway transport and waterway tourism activities; promptly identify shortcomings, limitations, and inadequacies in management procedures, coordination in implementation and organization of activities. Thereby proposing solutions to overcome and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, ensuring safety for people, tourists and vehicles operating on waterways.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and exchanging practical issues arising in the process of managing waterway and tourism transport activities; reviewing the functions and tasks of each agency and unit in the stages of licensing, inspection, control, management of vehicles, drivers and service business activities. The opinions also deeply analyzed the overlapping and inadequacies in the coordination process between forces; information exchange and sharing and inspection and handling of violations, and at the same time proposed solutions to improve unity and synchronization in management.
In particular, delegates exchanged views on strengthening the application of technology, building a mechanism for coordination and data sharing between departments, branches, localities and the Police force; enhancing the responsibility of vehicle owners, businesses, and waterway and tourism transport service businesses in complying with legal regulations. Through discussion, the conference agreed that it is necessary to approach the review work in a substantive direction, not only detecting loopholes and shortcomings but also clearly identifying the causes, responsibilities and remedial solutions, contributing to preventing unsafe risks early and far away, especially in areas, routes, and tourist spots where waterway transport activities take place regularly.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Colonel Huynh Thanh Lam, Deputy Director of An Giang Provincial Police, requested units and localities to closely follow the content of the Plan, organize serious, scientific, and objective implementation; ensure that the review is carried out fully, substantively, and in the right focus and key points. In the process of implementation, it is necessary to promote the spirit of responsibility, strengthen coordination between departments, branches, forces and grassroots authorities; promptly summarize difficulties, obstacles, and issues arising from practice to research and propose appropriate solutions.
Colonel Huynh Thanh Lam emphasized that the goal of the general review is not only to tighten management work but more importantly to improve management mechanisms and procedures in the direction of clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, improve coordination efficiency, create a safe, civilized, and healthy waterway and tourism operating environment. Thereby, contributing to ensuring security, order, and waterway traffic safety, effectively serving the requirements of socio-economic development, especially tourism development of An Giang province in the new situation.
Immediately after the conference, units and localities will, based on their assigned functions and tasks, proactively implement the contents of review and inspection.
