Currently, Phu Quoc special zone is busy with works and projects serving APEC 2027. In which, tourism also contributes to promoting and introducing the image of Phu Quoc to international friends.
An Giang Provincial Tourism Association said that recently the Association proposed considering the Phu Quoc - An Giang Green Tourism Standards as one of the key programs preparing for APEC 2027; building the image of Phu Quoc as a green, smart, sustainable and responsible destination of the Asia-Pacific region. Green certification businesses should be prioritized to participate in activities serving APEC 2027 to spread the message of sustainable development of Phu Quoc.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, Chairman of An Giang Provincial Tourism Association, said that the Green Tourism Standard set is built to support businesses to comprehensively review green transformation activities, minimizing negative impacts on the environment. This is also a synchronous tool for local authorities to manage effectively, towards the goal: By 2027, reach 30%, by 2030, reach 50-60%, and by 2035, 80-85% of tourism business establishments in Phu Quoc and An Giang will be labeled green.
The Provincial Tourism Association has also proposed that the Drafting Committee continue to complete the Standards set in the direction of both ensuring advancedness, international integration, and being suitable for business practices. The Standards set needs to become a driving force to promote green tourism development, improve competitiveness, and contribute to making Phu Quoc a leading green tourism destination in the region.
