The Telegraph Travel Awards 2025, organized by the British newspaper Telegraph, attracted about 20,000 readers to participate in voting for global travel destinations.
The results are divided into two groups: Top 50 best cities in the world and Top cities by region ( Europe, America and other regions).
In the group of cities outside of Europe and America, Hanoi is ranked 10th.
The capital of Vietnam ranked 31st out of 105 global cities on the list, while Ho Chi Minh City ranked 77th.
The Telegraph describes Hanoi as a city for those who love light, poetic beauty and the charm of time, a place where the picture of time, the winding ancient city and the East-West architecture blend together, creating a unique attraction.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph once praised Ho Chi Minh City as a vibrant destination with the sound of delicious motorbikes, ancient architectural works, sparkling skyscrapers, European-style squares, bustling street markets and modern shopping centers.
Some famous tourist cities in Southeast Asia on this list include Chiang Mai (18) and Bangkok (40) in Thailand; Kuala Lumpur (68) in Malaysia, Phnom Penh (83) in Cambodia...
The rankings show that some cities have dropped points in the list of favorite cities of global tourists such as Brazil's Rio de Janeiro dropped to 30 places after finishing 7th in 2023 to 37th, San Francisco (USA) dropped 30 places to 84th.
