The An Bien Antiquities Collection is the pride of Hai Phong City

Hai Phong - On the morning of November 28, the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a scientific seminar on "Values of the An Bien - Hai Phong Private Antiquities Collection".

The workshop was attended by representatives of the Department of Cultural Heritage - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Institute of Archaeology, Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, Vietnam Archaeology Association, Vietnam Historical Science Association, Vietnam National Museum of History, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.

Chaired the workshop Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association; Dr. Nguyen Van Doan, Director of the Vietnam National Museum of History; Mr. Vu Dinh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, a representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong said that relics, antiques, and national treasures are part of the cultural heritage. Monuments are artifacts of historical, cultural and scientific value; for such valuable antiques, they are typical and date back 100 years or more. For national treasures, the value is raised, demonstrating the special rare and typical nature of the country.

In Hai Phong, businessman Tran Dinh Thang owns a huge collection of antiques in quantity (with nearly 500 antiques), diverse in materials ( pottery, stone, wood, metal...), rich in types (pot, jars, bucket, bowl...). In particular, up to 18 artifacts have been recognized as national treasures by the Prime Minister. That is not only the honor and pride of the collector but also of the whole city of Hai Phong.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong organized a scientific workshop on "Values of the An Bien - Hai Phong Private Antiquities Collection" with the desire to continue to identify more deeply, scientifically and fully the value of the An Bien Private Antiquities Collection as part of the national cultural heritage, a source of endogenous strength, and a resource for the development of Hai Phong culture. From there, provide scientific arguments to advise the city to propose policies, tasks and solutions to promote the value of cultural heritage in the coming time.
