Hanoi implements road bans and traffic diversion from January 19-25 to ensure security, order, and traffic safety to serve the 14th Party Congress.

The 14th National Party Congress takes place from January 19 to January 25 at the National Convention Center (No. 2 Thang Long Avenue, Tu Liem Ward, Hanoi).

On this occasion, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police issued a traffic organization plan, which temporarily prohibits roads on some central streets and diverts vehicles to ensure security, order and traffic safety to serve the Congress.

According to the plan, traffic restriction measures are implemented according to specific daily time frames, including: from 6am to 8:30am; from 10:30am to 12:00pm; from 1pm to 2pm and from 4pm to 7:00pm.

During this time, some roads are prohibited or restricted from traffic for trucks (including specialized trucks) and passenger cars with 16 seats or more.

Note that motorbikes, electric bicycles... circulate normally during these time frames.

Some truck and passenger car drivers from 16 seats have to take roundabouts to avoid temporarily prohibited roads. Therefore, the density of vehicles participating in traffic on some roads far from the center is higher, leading to localized congestion.

To overcome this, people and tourists traveling by motorbike should check traffic density in real time through directional applications, choose to travel earlier or later than the time frames of temporary traffic prohibition to minimize congestion and affect the journey.

Note that when meeting priority convoys performing tasks serving the 14th Party Congress, traffic participants need to quickly slow down and move to the nearest level crossings to give way to priority convoys.

Roads with temporary traffic ban

According to the traffic organization plan, during the above-mentioned time frames, functional forces temporarily prohibit trucks (including specialized trucks) and passenger cars with 16 seats or more from circulating on some main roads such as: Pham Hung (section from Me Tri to Tran Duy Hung), Thang Long Avenue (next to the National Convention Center, section from Pham Hung to right-hand access road - Le Quang Dao), Tran Huu Duc, Le Duc Tho, Le Quang Dao, Do Duc Duc, Mieu Dam and Tran Duy Hung.

In addition, many other roads are also temporarily prohibited for the above vehicles including: Khuat Duy Tien (from Le Van Luong to Pham Hung), Nguyen Chi Thanh, Lieu Giai (section from Nguyen Chi Thanh to Phan Ke Binh), Dao Tan, Kim Ma, Van Phuc, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Tran Phu, Hung Vuong, Chu Van An, Hoang Dieu, Doc Lap, Le Hong Phong, Hoang Van Thu, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Dien Bien Phu, Le Duan (section from Dien Bien Phu to Nguyen Du), Hang Long, Tran Binh Trong, Tran Hung Dao (section from Quang Trung to Quan Su), Quan Su and Trang Thi.

Roads restricting vehicles

At the same time, trucks and cars carrying passengers with 16 seats or more are restricted from circulating on the routes: Hoang Hoa Tham, Thanh Nien, Thuy Khue, Nghi Tam, Au Co, An Duong Vuong, Yen Phu, Tran Nhat Duat, Hai Ba Trung, Lang, Lang Ha, Le Van Luong, Khuat Duy Tien, Me Tri and Thang Long Avenue.

Traffic diversion and alternative route guidance

Vehicles from the eastern provinces (Hai Phong, Hung Yen,...) to the western provinces (Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen,...) are recommended to travel along the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, National Highway 5, connecting Thanh Tri bridge or Phu Dong bridge, through Ninh Hiep intersection, continue along new National Highway 3 to go to the western provinces and vice versa.

For vehicles from southern provinces (Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa...) to eastern provinces (Hung Yen, Hai Phong), western provinces (Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho...) and northern provinces (Bac Ninh), the route is guided along the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway, to Do Muoi intersection, connecting Ring Road 3 elevated, Thanh Tri bridge, Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway access road, or Phu Dong bridge, new National Highway 3, Hanoi - Bac Giang expressway depending on the direction of travel.

Vehicles from southern provinces (Nghe An, Thanh Hoa...) to the Northwest provinces (Son La, Lai Chau,...) are recommended to choose Ho Chi Minh Road, National Highway 21A to limit entering the inner city of Hanoi.

Vehicles departing from Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh, Lang Son, Hung Yen, Hai Phong and neighboring localities will be diverted through national highways, expressways and suburban intersections, avoiding the city center area, ensuring safety and reducing congestion.

Road ban schedule affects motorcyclists

On January 21, January 23 and January 24, many key activities will take place in the My Dinh National Stadium area (Tu Liem ward, Hanoi). To ensure security, order and traffic safety, functional forces will organize temporary bans on all vehicles on many roads around this area.
