On May 4, the Management Board of Con Dao National Park (HCMC) said that it has deployed the installation of notice boards in the Con Dao special zone, to warn and advise people and tourists not to feed wild monkeys.
In Con Dao, monkeys are part of the wild natural ecosystem. Feeding monkeys seems harmless but has many unfortunate consequences. In which, giving inappropriate food can affect the health of monkeys, thereby causing natural ecological imbalance.
In addition, humans continuously feeding them can change the wild habits of monkeys, causing them to gradually lose their instincts and become dependent on humans. At this time, when monkeys gather on roads to wait for food, it is possible to cause traffic unsafety. Or there is a risk of wild monkeys attacking humans, snatching things to demand food.

When they cannot find food, wild monkeys may destroy crops and crops of people in the area to find food. Moreover, close contact with wild monkeys also has the potential to transmit diseases to humans.
Therefore, functional agencies recommend that people and tourists not feed monkeys, do not tease them and keep a safe distance when encountering monkeys. This will contribute to joining hands in protecting wildlife, preserving the image of green, clean, and safe Con Dao.
