Opportunities for Ho Chi Minh City tourism from the top 2 urban areas to retain the world's best residents

Thanh Chân |

Ho Chi Minh City is ranked 2nd among 65 urban areas globally with the best "keeping" of residents, opening up great opportunities for city tourism.

According to the City Pulse 2025 report of the Gensler Research Institute, Ho Chi Minh City ranks 2nd out of 65 urban areas in the world with the best "keeping" of residents.

With 61% of residents surveyed confirming that they are "unlikely" or "very unlikely" to move to another place to live, Ho Chi Minh City ranks 2nd in the world in terms of the ability to retain residents, just behind Taipei (Taiwan, China, 64%).

The survey, conducted by the world's leading architectural and design firm, with the participation of 33,000 people in 29 countries and territories, shows how motivating them are to stay or leave the city where they live.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism commented that Ho Chi Minh City's 2nd position in this prestigious international ranking not only affirms the city's attractiveness but also phuches with the orientation of building Ho Chi Minh City into a livable urban area. This is a place that not only attracts people to work, but also creates enough attraction to keep them long-term, live and explore deeper than the destination.

This result also reflects the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry in building tourism products associated with the living environment, with the participation of the community. The goal is to create conditions for tourists to stay long-term, live like local people, thereby increasing their experience and connection with the city. The urban tourism model associated with the community is being actively promoted by Ho Chi Minh City as a unique product to affirm the destination brand.

"Notably, this ranking has been evaluated for the past 6 weeks, by a reputable organization. Therefore, it has great media significance in promoting the city's image to the international community" - Mr. Hoa said.

Through this ranking, the tourism industry and the city's functional agencies have more basis to perfect urban development policies in the newly expanded space, especially after Ho Chi Minh City has adjusted administrative boundaries. The city will also review tourism human resources to better meet development needs in the coming period.

"To develop a livable urban model, there needs to be close coordination between departments and branches in policy consultation, especially in areas such as public space development, river roads, metro lines, green areas, urban infrastructure, night-time economic models and information technology application. These are key factors" - Mr. Hoa emphasized.

Ho Chi Minh City also prioritizes factors to ensure service quality, reasonable living expenses and services for both people and tourists. The most important thing is still security, safety, green - clean. At the same time, it strengthens community connections so that both people and tourists, when living or staying in Ho Chi Minh City, can have the best experiences and connections with the community.
