On May 22, the Con Dao National Park Management Board (HCMC) said that it had just organized a commendation ceremony for environmental sanitation workers of the Con Dao Special Zone Public Service Supply Center for successfully rescuing 2 rare sea turtles.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 14, while performing environmental sanitation tasks at An Hoi beach (Con Dao special zone), female workers including Le Thi Ngoc, Huynh Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam discovered 2 sea turtles trapped in waste nets, drifting ashore. These individuals are all rare sea turtles, which are seriously threatened by exploitation activities, marine environmental pollution, especially plastic waste and floating fishing gear.
Immediately, the 3 female workers found a way to remove 2 sea slugs from the waste net pile, and then released them back into the natural marine environment. The timely action of the three female workers saved the lives of two rare sea slugs, contributing to practically spreading the work of biodiversity conservation in Con Dao.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Pho - Director of the Con Dao National Park Management Board - said that the actions of the female workers have shown the spirit of responsibility and love for nature of the workers. In the context of Con Dao being oriented towards green and sustainable development associated with nature conservation, the actions of the female workers become even more meaningful, contributing to building Con Dao into a land not only rich in tourism potential but also responsible for the environment and ecosystem.
