On December 23, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City chaired and coordinated with the Da Nang Tourism Association and the Swiss Tourism Project for Sustainable Development in Vietnam (ST4SD) to organize the Conference "Da Nang Green Tourism 2025 - From the foundation to the future".

In the context of the world tourism industry shifting strongly from a growth model based on quantity to a development model based on quality, responsibility and sustainability, the Conference is considered an important forum to summarize the journey of implementing green tourism in recent times, while establishing a vision and development orientation for the next stage.
Green tourism is no longer a trendy choice, but is becoming an inevitable requirement to improve competitiveness and build a destination brand in the long term.
After nearly 5 years of implementing the green tourism and sustainable tourism orientation, Da Nang has achieved remarkable initial results.
To date, 33 tourism businesses have been recognized as having achieved green tourism certification, demonstrating the pioneering and responsible spirit of the business community in transforming business models towards sustainability.
Many green tourism models and initiatives associated with the community and nature conservation have been formed and spread, typically community tourism models in Hoa Bac, Cam Kim, Tan Thanh; educational tourism programs, biodiversity conservation; initiatives to reduce plastic waste, protect marine, river and forest ecosystems...
Speaking at the opening of the program, Mr. Van Ba Son - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang said that on the basis of the Green Tourism Development Plan for the period 2021-2025, with the support of international experts, especially the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Program (SSTP), Da Nang city has developed and implemented a set of Green Tourism Criteria with core criteria for 7 areas of sustainable management, environment, culture - society, community benefits and economic efficiency.
This is not just a set of technical tools, but a commitment of the tourism industry to develop not at all costs, but in harmony between growth and conservation.
According to Mr. Son, from those foundations, the city is aiming towards the "future" - the future of Da Nang tourism in a new, larger, more valuable development space, after expanding administrative boundaries and converging the entire dynamic coastal city with a depth of cultural - historical heritage and a unique ecosystem.
That future is first and foremost built on a consistent sustainable development mindset. For Da Nang, sustainable tourism is not only a goal, but has become a method and principle in industry management: a harmonious balance between the three pillars of economy, society, and environment, Mr. Son emphasized.
More importantly, the future of Da Nang green tourism is built on trust and companionship: between management agencies and businesses, between the government and the community, between localities and domestic and international partners.
Only when each business becomes a "green link", each person is a "green ambassador", and each policy is aimed at sustainable value, will green tourism truly become the identity of the destination.
