On October 21, the Department of Construction of Da Nang City issued a document requesting the Inland Waterways Port Authority to coordinate with units managing and exploiting ports and inland waterway wharves to urgently deploy plans to prevent storms and floods and raise the span of Nguyen Van Troi Bridge to serve the relocation of ships to avoid storm No. 12.
All tourist boats and fishing boats anchored at Han River Port and CT15 Inland Water Port must be evacuated to safe shelters by the afternoon of October 21. The relocation is to ensure absolute safety for people and vehicles in the context of heavy rain that is likely to occur due to the impact of storm No. 12.
The Department of Construction recommends that relevant units arrange human resources, vehicles and coordinate closely during the relocation process, to avoid congestion or collisions when ships pass through the construction area.
At the same time, tourism businesses and ship owners are required to proactively update weather information, follow instructions of authorities, absolutely do not anchor or stay in the bridge area during the pace increase.
The Department of Construction also proposed to operate and raise the span of Nguyen Van Troi Bridge to create a boat flow, helping to evacuate boats to the upstream of the Han River conveniently. This is the only bridge on the Han River that can lift the span, equipped with 4 hydraulic spans, each with a load of 100 tons, a lifting speed of 0.233m/minute, a lifting journey of 3.6m, and a span length of 36.45m.
