On the morning of January 1, 2026, the Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism simultaneously organized to welcome the first tourists at Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport and Hoi An Ancient Town, thereby spreading the image of a new Da Nang, spreading the atmosphere and being ready for a breakthrough tourism development year.
At Da Nang International Airport, the City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a welcoming ceremony for flight VN157 from Hanoi operated by Vietnam Airlines at the domestic terminal. The first three lucky tourists who set foot in Da Nang at the beginning of the year were presented with flowers and congratulatory gifts; all passengers on the flight also received souvenirs from the city's tourism industry.
The New Year's atmosphere is stirred up with the message "Happy New Year 2026 - Welcome to Da Nang", the vibrant LED drums and spring art performances. Visitors participate in photography at the check-in area, experience the "360° Welcome Danang booth", receive photos and enjoy a cup of Da Nang coffee as a warm greeting to open the journey.
At the international terminal, Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism welcomed a flight from Manila (Philippines) operated by Cebu Pacific Air, with traditional and modern art performances.
5 lucky tourists received flowers and gifts, the remaining guests took check-in photos and received cards and souvenirs.
On the first day of the year, Da Nang also welcomed 7 international flights from Incheon, Busan, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore with about 1,200 tourists.
At Chu Lai Airport, three lucky passengers on flight VN1641 from Hanoi were awarded a pair of domestic round-trip tickets from Vietnam Airlines, local specialty gifts and vouchers to experience Da Nang tourism services. All passengers on the two flights to Chu Lai also received souvenirs, travel vouchers and participated in check-in activities, recording memorable moments on New Year's Day.
Meanwhile, in Hoi An Ancient Town, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a program to welcome the first delegation in 2026. The delegation enjoyed traditional art programs, exchanges, received flowers and souvenirs before visiting typical heritage sites of Hoi An Ancient Town, opening the journey to explore a unique cultural and tourist space in the new year.
The organization of a program to welcome tourists at the beginning of the year simultaneously at Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport and Hoi An Ancient Town and scenic spots in Da Nang city such as: My Son Temple and Tower Area, Ngu Hanh Son Scenic Relic Complex, Bay Mau Cam Thanh Coconut Forest... not only has the meaning of starting the new year, but also creates a new atmosphere and motivation for the city's entire tourism industry to enter 2026 with the determination to grow by two digits.
In 2026, Da Nang's tourism industry strives to serve 19.1 million visitors, an increase of 10.5% compared to 2025; of which international visitors reached 8.7 million (an increase of 13.7%), domestic visitors reached 10.4 million (an increase of 8%). Revenue from accommodation, food and travel services is expected to reach nearly 70 trillion VND, an increase of more than 15%, contributing to affirming the role of tourism as a key economic sector, making important contributions to sustainable socio-economic growth of Da Nang City in the coming period.
