street vendors surround tourists
According to Lao Dong reporters, street vendors are still active in the streets with high demand for tourists such as the area around Han Market, Con Ga Church, An Thuong Street. These traders often use carts or carry plastic trays filled with items such as fruits, lockers, glasses... around tourist areas to invite them to grow. Notably, there is a situation where many tourists, even though they do not want to buy, try to refuse but are still being held to.
The People's Committee of An Hai Ward (Da Nang City) on July 22, 2025 recently issued a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Nguyen Tam (name changed) - the owner of a sidewalk restaurant that was reported to have "ripped off" the group of Lao tourists. Ms. Tam was fined VND750,000 for "not posting the price of goods at the location where the price must be listed according to the provisions of law".
Earlier, on the evening of July 13, a group of Lao tourists led by Mr. Quoc Ha (name changed) stopped by Mrs. Tam's seaweed shop in An Hai ward. The group ordered 4 skewers of octopus, 2 skewers of okra, 1 portion of chicken feet, 3 factory laborers and was charged a total of 760,000 VND. Seeing the price too high, the group of guests wondered, so the seller returned 200,000 VND, the group of guests had to pay 560,000 VND for the above snacks. Too upset, the tour guide reported the incident on social media and the city's comments portal.
