On July 13, Mr. Nguyen Huu Que - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued an official dispatch requesting the transfer of the task of implementing the general planning for the construction of the Hoan Kiem Lake - Chu Dang Ya tourist area from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the Department of Construction.
Accordingly, the Department of Construction is responsible for speeding up the implementation progress according to the correct procedures and regulations.
At the same time, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for handing over all documents and records related to the general planning for the construction of the Hoan Kiem Lake - Chu Dang Ya tourist area to the Department of Construction.
The Sea of Lake (a large lake in the heart of the mountain town) and the million-year-old volcano Chu Dang Ya have been destinations for tourists inside and outside the province for many years, and are tourism symbols of Gia Lai province.

However, the current way of exploiting tourism as well as tourism products is not diverse, not fully promoting the potential and advantages of these landscapes.
The construction unit is building a welcome gate worth about 25 billion VND at the entrance to the Hoan Kiem Lake tourist area. This is to prepare to welcome visitors during the wild sunflower blooming season (November every year), thereby bringing service revenue to people and businesses, gradually improving the lives of local people.
According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gia Lai province, in the first 6 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to Binh Dinh (old) reached 6.5 million, an increase of 14.3% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists reached VND16,850 billion, up 14.5%.
Meanwhile, in Gia Lai (old), the same period recorded 890,000 visitors, an increase of 16%, with revenue reaching 493 billion VND, an increase of 11% over the previous year.
