Many villages worth living in
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MCST) Ho An Phong said that Vietnam is an agricultural country with more than 70% of the population living in rural areas, with advantages in rich natural resources.
“In recent years, Vietnam has paid attention to developing unique types and products of agricultural and rural tourism, attracting domestic and foreign tourists, bringing diversity in the provision of tourism services.
On the contrary, tourism has contributed significantly to changing the "face" of many rural areas, turning many rural areas with limited development conditions into livable countryside..." - according to Deputy Minister Ho An Phong.
According to statistics from the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), in the first 9 months of 2024, the number of global tourists reached 1.1 billion, almost reaching pre-pandemic levels.
Vietnam’s tourism receipts in the past nine months have also surpassed the pre-pandemic peak (2019). This is an extraordinary achievement, making Vietnam one of the best performing countries not only in Southeast Asia but also in the entire Asia-Pacific region.
Empowering the community
According to Quang Nam Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, green tourism in recent years has been an inevitable development trend of global tourism.
Since 2019, Quang Nam province has begun to send out a consistent message about green tourism development, aiming at sustainability, and then became the first locality in the country to issue a set of provincial green tourism criteria.
“Quang Nam focuses on developing and creating green tourism products, based on the foundation of rich and diverse natural resources and unique indigenous cultural values, creating opportunities for resource conservation and sustainable tourism development. Economic development is not at all costs but must have harmonious economic, cultural, social and environmental development” - Secretary of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee stated his point of view.
“We are steadfast in our commitment to putting rural tourism at the top of the global agenda. By doing so, we are harnessing the enormous potential of rural communities, turning their stories into a source of global inspiration and opportunity.
Through this event, we aim to spread the values and potential of tourism as an important factor that can change lives, empower rural communities and promote socio-economic equity" - Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Deputy Secretary-General of UN Tourism shared.
