On September 2nd, in Khuc Thua Du commune, Hai Phong city, the Khuc Thua Du Temple Festival 2026 was held, commemorating the 1,119th anniversary of the death of National Hero Khuc Thua Du and announcing the decision to recognize the national historical relic Khuc Thua Du Temple as a tourist destination.
The festival is an opportunity for local people and tourists to respectfully remember and express gratitude for the merits and contributions of their predecessors to their homeland and country; thereby contributing to fostering pride in historical traditions, fostering patriotism and awareness of preserving and promoting the good cultural values of the nation.
An important content of this year's festival is the announcement of the Decision of Hai Phong City People's Committee on recognizing the tourist destination "National Historical Relic Khuc Thua Du Temple".
Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded decisions to commune leaders and the Management Board of Khuc Thua Du Temple Relic, marking a new step in promoting the value of relics associated with tourism activities.
Being recognized as a tourist destination creates an additional basis for Khuc Thua Du commune to improve management, protection and promotion of relic values; gradually connecting historical and cultural values with sightseeing and experiential activities, meeting the needs of people and tourists to learn about history and culture.
After the opening ceremony, many cultural and sports activities took place sôi nổi such as the Hong Phong water puppetry performance, the land firecracker tournament between villages in the commune and the women's air volleyball tournament.
Previously, on August 31st and September 1st, the festival held traditional rituals along with banh chung wrapping contests, open chess tournaments, men's volleyball, cultural exchanges and fireworks displays to celebrate.
The Khuc Thua Du Temple Festival 2026 is an occasion to commemorate predecessors, and at the same time contribute to preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of Cuc Bo land and promoting Khuc Thua Du Temple to become a cultural and historical destination of Hai Phong.
Khuc Thua Du Temple worships the three elders Khuc Thua Du, Trung Chua Khuc Hao and Hau Chua Khuc Thua My. Three generations of the Khuc family made important contributions to the process of opening up and consolidating the self-reliance of the Vietnamese nation in the early 10th century, after a long period of Northern domination.
Over a thousand years, the imprints of the Khuc family continue to be preserved in the land of Cuc Bo. Khuc Thua Du Temple was built and preserved along with the communal house space, village and traditional cultural values, becoming a historical, traditional and cultural educational address for the community.
