After the closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 left many impressions, the festival atmosphere in Dien Bien is still vibrant in the last days of 2024 and preparing to enter 2025. Accordingly, from December 28-29, 2024, Dien Bien district organized the Mong ethnic cultural exchange festival, converging many traditional cultural features of the Mong ethnic community in Dien Bien province.
Also during these days, in Muong Lay town, Dien Bien province, preparations are bustling for the 10th Swallowtail Boat Racing Festival and the 5th National Paragliding Club Championship; the 1st Jet Ski Championship) in 2025. According to the plan, the program will take place from January 3-5, 2025, promising to be a highlight attracting a large number of tourists in the first days of the new year.
Restored about 10 years ago, the Swallow-tailed Boat Racing Festival has become a famous tourism brand in Muong Lay town, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every early spring. In addition, this occasion also includes many unique cultural, artistic, sports and tourism activities of the White Thai ethnic group in the Muong Lay river region.
Next, in the first days of the new year, the Cherry Blossom Festival - Dien Bien Phu with the theme "Muong Village in Spring - Cherry Blossoms in Bloom", will take place for 2 days, January 11-12, 2025, in Pa Khoang commune, Dien Bien Phu city.
At this festival, visitors not only get to immerse themselves in the beautiful cherry blossoms, but also have the opportunity to explore and experience the unique cultures of the three ethnic groups: Thai, H’Mong, and Kho Mu. In addition, there are cultural and sports exchange activities such as the “Fragrance of Dien Bien” culinary competition, folk games, and kayak racing.
By mid-March, as usual, the 2025 Hoa Ban Festival will take place - this is a festival that identifies the brand of Dien Bien tourism. Besides the attractive activities, the "Hoa Ban Beauty" contest will be an important highlight contributing to promoting the image of the people and land of Dien Bien.
Within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2024 hosted by Dien Bien province, about 160 programs, events, and response activities took place. Dien Bien province welcomed more than 1.85 million tourists, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching over 3,300 billion VND, nearly 2 times higher than in 2023.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the successful hosting and organization of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024, associated with the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, has made a very important contribution to introducing and promoting the image of tourism, history, and traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups of Dien Bien province to domestic and international friends.
“Dien Bien province will be determined to synchronously implement tasks and solutions to promote socio-economic development, actively call for and promote investment attraction... with the expectation of comprehensive innovation, creating breakthroughs in socio-economic development, especially tourism. From there, it will soon contribute to making tourism a spearhead economic sector,” Mr. Do emphasized.
With continuous efforts, Dien Bien is gradually affirming its position as one of the attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam. After the success of National Tourism Year 2024, it will create momentum for the development of Dien Bien tourism industry in the following years.
