On November 23, within the framework of Hung Yen Culture, Sports and Tourism Week 2025, the water puppet performance at the Provincial Museum's yard attracted hundreds of people and tourists to watch.
Traditional water puppet space - one of the 13 main activities of the Cultural Week has become a highlight of the weekend, creating a joyful atmosphere, recalling the unique folk cultural values of the ancient Hanoi Street.
From early morning, many families of young people, students, and the elderly were present to find a good location in front of the water pavilion stage. Viewers attentively follow each flexible move of the puppets, the bustling sound of the drums, the sparkling water reflecting traditional colors. Many audiences who saw water puppets for the first time expressed their excitement.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang, Pho Hien ward, shared: I used to watch water puppets on TV, but this is the first time I have enjoyed them directly. Children love it, but adults like me feel warm because they can experience the long-standing culture. Hopefully the province will organize more programs like this".
Not only water puppet shows, this year's Culture, Sports and Tourism Week also has many activities at the Provincial Museum, Pho Hien Ward Center and communes and wards across the area.

Activities range from heritage exhibition, traditional craft performance, art exhibition, sports activities, to community cultural experience space... creating a vivid picture of Hung Yen culture and history.
Mr. Le Minh Hung - a tourist from Hai Phong, said: "I find Hung Yen's preparation very professional. Coming to see water puppets on the weekend but also visiting the exhibition space, trying to make handmade products. Each activity has its own unique character, both imbued with identity and friendly.
The inclusion of water puppetry - a folk art form associated with the history of the Northern Delta - in the program aims to create a highlight for weekend tourism, while giving people the opportunity to access heritage right in public spaces. This is also an opportunity for art troupes to exchange and create cultural connections between localities.
Hung Yen province hopes that through the series of activities of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week in 2025, tourism will be promoted to become an important economic sector; introduce, promote and spread the quintessence of Hung Yen cultural heritage to the public; expand cooperation opportunities between tourism service businesses inside and outside the province.
