On November 11, Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism coordinated with the Representative Office of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Khanh Hoa to organize a dialogue conference and receive information from tourism businesses in Khanh Hoa province.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, the conference is an opportunity for frank dialogue, receiving information and resolving difficulties and problems encountered in the business operations of travel service enterprises and tourist services and destinations in Khanh Hoa province.
At the conference, 18 opinions were raised by businesses, focusing on issues of beach rental prices, reporting software systems, taxes, tourism fraud... Content related to the implementation of accommodation software to avoid overlap, the cost of renting beach umbrella and chair booking services... were recommended a lot.
According to some tourism businesses, the price of renting beachfront space has remained high for the past two years at over VND200 million/year. Businesses have proposed to consider reducing the rental price during the low season to support businesses during times when there are no customers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee, said that according to the plan for organizing activities of placing umbrellas and loungers on the beach approved by Nha Trang City People's Committee in 2017, the unit price for using beach space applied in the period of 2015-2019 is 302,400 VND/m2/year (Tran Phu Street) and 112,500 VND/m2/year (Pham Van Dong Street).
In the period of 2020-2025, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee issued a 5-year periodic land price list and decisions to adjust related coefficients. Therefore, the rental price increased to VND 1,814,400/m2/year (Tran Phu Street) and VND 600,000/m2/year (Pham Van Dong Street).
In 2020 and 2021, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province and the People's Committee of Nha Trang city have issued a document agreeing on the policy of continuing to apply the unit price for the period 2015-2019 to support businesses.
By 2022, the rental price of beach premises will no longer be supported and must be applied according to regulations of VND 1,814,400/m2/year (Tran Phu Street) and VND 600,000/m2/year (Pham Van Dong Street).
In August 2022, Nha Trang City People's Committee also issued Document No. 5756, dated August 16, 2022, requesting the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Finance to consider reducing the unit price for using beach space to place umbrellas and chairs.
After the Department of Finance reviewed the regulations, the unit price for using beach space was reduced from VND 1,814,400/m2/year to VND 1,088,640/m2/year (for Tran Phu Street) and from VND 600,000/m2/year to VND 432,000/m2/year (for Pham Van Dong Street).
“This price adjustment is a decrease but also an increase compared to Nha Trang City’s recommendation. Therefore, if we want to reduce it, we have to wait for the direction of the Provincial People’s Committee,” said Mr. Minh.
At the conference, Mr. Dinh Van Thieu - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee emphasized: "We request the Department of Tourism to record and summarize the opinions of businesses to propose to relevant agencies. We must identify Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa as a high-class tourist destination, there are still many issues that need to be improved for better tourism activities...
The province is considering a planning option to have underground roads crossing Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets to make traffic safer and more convenient. Currently, Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets are accessible but not really safe, still difficult and inconvenient for tourists.
