In fact, the merger has opened up an inter-regional tourism space for Can Tho City, diversifying products, increasing attraction and competitiveness. In particular, the city, with its advantages in waterway transport, creates an ideal river route for tourism development with a chain of islets and islands stretching out to the sea.

Most recently, on June 18, the Can Tho City Investment - Trade and Tourism Promotion Center opened the 2026 Can Tho Culture - Tourism Week at Ninh Kieu Wharf.
The week connects with the Nhon My Commune Water and Orchard Festival at My Phuoc islet and the Tan Loc Fruit Garden Festival at Tan Loc islet, contributing to spreading and promoting typical destinations of the locality.
The events all aim to promote the role and strengths in developing culture and tourism, gradually making tourism a key economic sector of the city. This is also a space for businesses to stimulate tourism demand, introduce new tours and routes on the occasion of summer 2026.
Previously, in May 2026, the Southern Folk Songs Festival of Can Tho City in 2026 also received a response from many tourists.
Ms. Tran Thuy Linh (Vietnamese-American tourist) shared with Lao Dong: "The recreation of Vietnamese rural scenery combined with Southern folk songs right in the context of modern life, partly reminded me of memories of a peaceful and poetic countryside".

Notably, the Hung Kings Commemoration and Southern Folk Cake Festival in 2026 at the end of April 2026 also attracted about 650,000 visitors to Can Tho.
At the above time, Can Tho also organized the Record Establishment Festival "Map of Vietnam made from the largest coconut milk sticky rice in Vietnam", attracting many people to visit and admire.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hieu (An Binh ward, Can Tho city) expressed: "Every year, Can Tho organizes unique and creative events for people to have a place to play and experience, I am very satisfied.
