On November 16, the program "Exchange of Cultural Intangible Heritage Exhibition of Representative of Humanity - Rites, tug of war games" at Tran Vu Temple (Long Bien, Hanoi) attracted the participation of 9 outstanding domestic and international tug of war teams. This is an activity within the framework of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025, organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture - Sports in coordination with the People's Committee of Long Bien Ward and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the ceremony and tug of war being recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.The program opens with a performance of the return of the curse at Tran Vu Temple (Long Bien Ward, Hanoi) taking place on the third day of the third lunar month every year to pay tribute to Saint Linh Lang. The parallel beam is about 25 - 30m long, 5cm in diameter, the roots and ends are not equal to ensure fair competition. The strands are soaked in a well in Dang Dong Hamlet in front of the festival for a whole month to make them flexible and durable. Before each round, the representatives of the two teams started the match. Some members performed the pure ceremony and washed away white wine to stir up the spirit.Huu Chap people use bamboo stumps to make ropes, calling them the Day tree. The bamboo is scraped white, with holes in both ends. The two ends of the bamboo tree are connected by bamboo ropes, the connection is tightly twisted into a snail shape, called a spider.The quarry of Xuan Lai village (Da Phuc commune, Hanoi) is very unique. It is called " mine crab" because for hundreds of years, Xuan Lai villagers have used the tops of two bamboo trees to form a hook-shaped fish blades, then tied them tightly for the two villagers to use to pull.The exchange, performance of rituals and tug of war games was attended by the Gijisi tug of war Association (Dangjin city, Korea) as well as a performance of drum and lion dance by a group of young artists, creating a colorful cultural space.At the event, the Vietnam Heritage Community Network was officially launched, marking a new development in the journey of connecting, transmitting and promoting the vitality of the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Long Bien Ward said that the exchange program, performance of rituals and tug of war games is an opportunity to feel the richness and diversity of Vietnamese culture. At the same time, learn valuable experiences in preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage from international friends. International and domestic communities continue to write together the story of cultural connection, preserving the common heritage of humanity, and promoting community cultural cooperation.
