According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning, September 12, the Viet Bac region and the Northern Delta had scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain; Hoa Binh and the North Central region had moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain.
The Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 15-30mm, locally over 50mm. From noon to afternoon, the rain gradually decreases.
Other places in the North have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 50mm; from Ha Tinh to Binh Thuan there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 70mm; the Central Highlands and the South have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall from 20-40mm, locally over 80mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and night).

According to the heat map from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, rain in the North is likely to last until September 12. From September 13, many areas have begun to experience intermittent sunshine.
Meanwhile, thunderstorms and localized heavy rains in the Central region are likely to last for several days. From around September 13, a period of heavy rain is likely to occur in the Central Highlands and the South.
Water levels at downstream stations of the Red River - Thai Binh River system have risen to and above BD3. Rising flood levels have caused flooding in low-lying areas along the river, alluvial areas outside the main dyke, causing the dykes along the river to overflow, and landslides of dykes and embankments that can seriously affect vulnerable locations along the river in the following provinces/cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh.
Residents and tourists need to be on guard against flooding in low-lying areas along rivers in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, and Hoa Binh; flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in the mountainous areas of the North.
