According to Mr. Dinh Si Nguyen - Deputy Head of the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, it is expected that Thien Cung - Dau Go cave will be piloted with a wifi system right in the cave to both serve tourists and serve management, rescue and relief.
This is also one of the tasks of applying science and technology and digital transformation of the unit in 2026 to tourism development.
According to Mr. Nguyen, currently, the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board is waiting for the installation of BTS phone base stations and internet services at tourist destinations and then will bring Wi-Fi connections inside the cave.
When there is Wi-Fi wave in the cave, tourists can post photos and video clips directly on social networks right in the cave. This also helps promote the image of Ha Long Bay tourism. In the immediate future, we will request a pilot in Thien Cung - Dau Go, and then propose Quang Ninh province to expand to some other caves" - Mr. Nguyen said.
Currently, 2 BTS broadcasting stations in Cong Do area and Vung Vieng fishing village have just been officially put into use. These broadcasting stations have 2G, 4G technology, broadcasting capacity ensures coverage with a distance of 10 km to 15 km. These are 2 of the areas with bustling tourism activities in Ha Long Bay but are "sunk" in phone signals.

It is expected that in the second quarter of 2026, 5/10 other tourist destinations will be covered by Starlink satellite internet service. The remaining 5 destinations will be covered by Starlink this year.
Previously, the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board coordinated with Viettel Quang Ninh to survey and select locations to study the installation of Starlink satellite internet service, including: Northeast of Vung Vieng fishing village; Hon Ran - East of Cong Do island; Ba Men Temple area; Tien Ong cave area; Trong cave area; Luon cave area; Dinh Huong island area; Cap Tao cave area; Tung Sau cave area; Tra San area; Cat Lan area; Co cave area.
Covering telephone and internet in tourist destinations across the country is simple, but the Ha Long Bay area is very difficult due to its high rocky terrain and being a World Natural Heritage Site.
Due to many regulations related to world heritage, for many years, the installation of broadcasting systems has not been possible.
The lack of phone signal makes tourists going to the middle of the bay unable to contact the shore, nor can they "selfie" right in Ha Long Bay, but must return near the shore to post images and video clips on social networks.
In particular, the lack of phone signal in Ha Long Bay makes it difficult for functional agencies to handle cases, especially rescue and relief work as well as management work.
