People keep their rural routine, increase their income thanks to tourism
Community tourism offers visitors the opportunity to explore garden life, participate in ecological activities and experience local culture. Coming to Con Chim, visitors immerse themselves in the river scenery, do farming in the garden and enjoy typical rustic dishes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tai - a household participating in community tourism in Con Chim - said that when there are many tourists coming, people working in tourism have more income, but more importantly, keep the countryside and gardens cleaner.
"From tourism, people change their thinking, boldly participating in many new models. Thanks to service development, many households' income has doubled or tripled compared to before, Mr. Tai added.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh - Party Cell Secretary, Head of the People's Committee of Con Chim Hamlet: "Previously, people only relied on fields and gardens, with unstable income. Now, thanks to tourism linkages, everyone clearly sees the benefits, young people stay in their hometown more".
He added that Con Chim alone has dozens of local workers with stable jobs, earning an income of 5 - 15 million VND/month.
This is a vivid proof that when people agree and voluntarily participate, community tourism becomes an important driving force in building a model new rural area in Vinh Long, Mr. Thanh added.
Developing model new rural areas from community tourism
Mr. Le Van Tri - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Minh commune along the Co Chien river - said that with an area of over 3,600 hectares, a population of over 12,000 people, the commune has favorable conditions to develop agriculture, aquaculture and community tourism.
The goal of building a model new rural area is to improve the quality of people's lives. Developing community tourism associated with OCOP products, rural infrastructure and traditional culture will help communes not only meet standards but also be truly sustainable.
Community tourism is the foundation for us to move towards a model new rural area. When people clearly see the benefits of this model, they will actively participate, together creating a civilized and unique rural appearance, Mr. Tri added.

Mr. Duong Hoang Sum - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province - said that community tourism is being identified by the province as one of the key directions to improve people's lives.
According to Mr. Sum, Vinh Long chose community tourism as a highlight, both creating jobs, preserving identity and being the foundation for a model new rural commune. Not only Con Chim, but also An Binh Islet, traditional craft villages or garden plantations along the Tien and Hau rivers are all promoting their strengths.
This is the basis for Vinh Long to attract tourists and gradually build a model new rural image associated with ecology, culture and consensus of the people, Mr. Sum added.
