Khanh Hoa is making efforts to preserve heritage associated with sustainable tourism development, aiming to become an international-class tourism center.
The article "Khanh Hoa Tourism Transforms in the Digital Age" by Lao Dong Newspaper takes readers through the outstanding changes of the locality: from the digitalization of relics, the application of technology in resorts, to the province's comprehensive strategy in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the operation and management of the tourism industry.
These movements not only show the desire to catch up with global technology trends, but also demonstrate Khanh Hoa's aspiration to build a smart tourism city, developing a green and sustainable marine economy.
Lao Dong Newspaper interviewed Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Long Bien about the potential, advantages and difficulties in the process of digital transformation of tourism.
How does Khanh Hoa identify the role of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the tourism development strategy?
Since 2022, Khanh Hoa has issued a digital transformation plan for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030 in all fields.
In which the tourism industry is the focus to improve competitiveness, in line with the trend of developing smart tourism.
Up to now, Khanh Hoa has operated many systems such as the Tourist Support Operating Center, tourism reporting software, smart tourism cards, information websites, and applying VR360 technology to the Ba Ponaga Tower relic.

I assess that digital transformation has really created a clear step forward in tourism promotion.
In particular, since implementing Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation development, Khanh Hoa has been promoting research on AI application in a number of management areas such as market forecasting support, tourism product development and resource management.
I believe that the AI system of Khanh Hoa province will be applied in all sectors and fields and serve all classes of society in the coming time.
Recently, not only the government has shifted to applying AI in state management.

Many high-end resorts and resorts in Khanh Hoa have proactively deployed a smart tourism system, using AI chatbot and virtual assistants to support booking, answer questions, suggest schedules, apply facial recognition technology in the process of checking in, checking out and controlling room entry and exit...
This has helped increase tourist satisfaction, while reducing operating costs.
What are the biggest challenges in the implementation of digital technology and AI in the current Khanh Hoa tourism industry and what solutions does the province have to overcome them?
We have found some difficulties in implementing the technology.
Typically, high-quality human resources are still limited; digital infrastructure is not yet synchronous; many small businesses are not ready to invest in digital transformation.
To overcome this, Khanh Hoa is focusing on implementing the tasks of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo.
Especially in the tourism sector such as: Gradually implementing solutions such as improving digital capacity for tourism staff and businesses through training; building smart tourism projects at the provincial level, enhancing public-private cooperation with technology companies to build a data platform and solutions suitable to local characteristics.

How do you expect digital technology and AI to change the face of Khanh Hoa tourism in the next 3-5 years?
In the first 7 months of 2025, the total number of visitors to Khanh Hoa is estimated at more than 10.8 million, an increase of 16% over the same period last year.
Of which, international visitors reached more than 3.2 million, domestic visitors more than 7.6 million. Total revenue from tourists reached over VND 42,379 billion, up 17.2%.
This is a very positive signal showing the clear effectiveness of applying digital technology and AI to the tourism industry.
I believe that in the next 3 to 5 years, digital technology and AI will bring comprehensive changes to Khanh Hoa tourism and at the same time, shape its position as a leading smart tourism center.

From personalizing travel itineraries, suggesting destinations, booking services, virtual assistants 24/7, to building a smart tourism ecosystem, closely connecting the government, businesses and tourists.
Technology will help us operate destinations more optimally and analyze the market more accurately. Thereby developing new tourism products, meeting the right needs - especially specialized types of tourism such as medical tourism, high-tech eco-tourism.
Thank you!
