Lunar New Year 2026 tourism is bustling, many tours are full

Ho Chi Minh City - The Lunar New Year 2026 tourism market recorded signs of recovery as demand increased sharply in both domestic and international tours, with many tours fully booked.

According to records from travel businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, this year's Lunar New Year tourism market is "heating up" day by day, with an early tour booking trend and a rapidly increasing occupancy rate on many domestic and international routes.

Ms. Tran Phuong Linh - Marketing - Information Technology Director of BenThanh Tourist Company said that the demand for Tet Nguyen Dan tourism this year has increased significantly compared to previous years, especially in the high-quality tour segment and family tours.

Total market purchasing power is estimated to increase by more than 15% compared to the same period last year. Tet tour programs of businesses mainly depart on February 17th and 18th (the 1st and 2nd days of Binh Ngo Tet).

In the domestic market, tours exploring the North, Central regions and familiar resort destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Lat continue to attract great attention.

Meanwhile, the foreign tourism segment recorded good purchasing power in long-distance and new routes such as New Zealand, Australia, Europe; Northeast Asia tour groups including Japan, China, and Korea are also popular choices during Tet.

The trend of booking early tours continues to prevail as many customers have completed their plans 2-3 months before Tet to ensure beautiful seats and stable prices.

To date, tours to New Zealand, Australia and Europe by this business have sold out. Most Northeast Asian tours are only 4 - 8 seats left, Southeast Asian tours such as Singapore and Malaysia are still very limited, with a common occupancy rate of 80 - 90%.

In the domestic market, air tours to Hanoi and Da Nang have been closed. Businesses are only selling some road tours to Da Lat, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang and the Southwest region.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Man - Deputy General Director of VinaGroup Travel Company said that with the long Tet holiday, tourism demand is expected to increase slightly by about 10% compared to the same period. In the period from December 24 to the 8th day of Tet, the business designs a diverse tour ecosystem, prioritizing products combining cultural and resort experiences.

With domestic tours, businesses continue to maintain regular departure schedules to serve tourists. In which, focusing on sea and island products such as Phu Quoc, Con Dao, inter-route Binh Dinh - Phu Yen. At the same time, exploiting highland tours in the North such as Ha Giang - Dong Van - Nho Que, Son La - Dien Bien - Moc Chau, meeting the needs of experiencing and exploring at the beginning of the year.
