Gia Lai advocated preserving pine forests near Pleiku city to serve the purpose of developing green and sustainable tourism.

Over the years, pine forest in Ia Der commune, Ia Grai district, bordering Pleiku city, became a destination to attract a large number of tourists.

People often take advantage of the holidays, New Year to come here to have fun, admire and organize picnics. At one point, Ia Der pine hill welcomed thousands of visitors from all over.

Mr. Nguyen Tinh, a resident of Pleiku city, said: “The pine forest is a natural green area of the mountain town, grown for a long time. The plateau will be greener and more beautiful when there are forest trees, especially pine, help create landscapes and regulate climate. ”

Previously, Pleiku inner city also had many ancient pine trees decades. However, due to the process of urban expansion, many trees were cut down to make room for transport infrastructure, replaced by other trees.

Therefore, Ia Der pine forest, located near Pleiku urban area, bears the appearance of a green highland city for health.

Ms. Tran Thi Linh, a resident of Dak Doa district, shared: "Along with Chu Chu is YA, wildflowers and Bien Ho tea, IAR pine hill is still a favorite destination for young people."

Currently, Ia Der pine hill still keeps pristine and primitive, but the road has deteriorated and dirt. The surrounding area has no development tourism services, not enough to attract tourists.

Tourism activities here are also spontaneous, lack of methodical investment as well as tourism products that come to fully exploit the potential.

At the end of 2024, the People's Committee of Gia Lai Province issued the Decision (No. 581/QD-UBND), approving the planning project of the construction zoning zone of Hill Culture and Cultural Tourism Area combined with eco-tourism in IAR commune (district Ia Grai) and Dien Hong and Yen Do wards (Pleiku City).

The plan has a total area of 135.69ha. In particular, the pine forest will be preserved, only moving some trees to build cultural and services works with construction density of less than 5%.

The current residential area will be renovated and embellished with a construction density of less than 40%. Gia Lai province will also call for investment in tourism and services from budget and socialization.

People and tourists expect that when the planning project is implemented, IAR Der pine hill will be developed more methodically and more attractive, while preventing forest abuse and encroaching forestry land.
