The 2026 Summer Tourism Festival is expected to open in mid-June, a prominent cultural and tourism event in the series of activities in response to the National Tourism Year - Gia Lai 2026.
This is an opportunity to promote the image of Gia Lai land and people; introduce traditional cultural values, tourism resources and typical tourism products of the locality to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
The opening event series includes many large-scale cultural, sports and tourism activities, concentrated in Quy Nhon ward.
Prominent are the opening ceremony of the 2026 Summer Tourism Festival with the theme "Gia Lai - Wonderful Summer", expected to take place on June 20 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square; Quy Nhon - Gia Lai Art Kite Festival from June 19-21 at Xuan Dieu beach and Nguyen Tat Thanh Square; 3-region Cuisine Festival combined with displaying OCOP products, local specialties from June 19-25 in the Nguyen Thiep street area and Nguyen Tat Thanh Square.
The 2nd Gia Lai Provincial Youth Kickboxing Championship from June 13-20; the 1st Gia Lai Provincial Sports Festival cross-country race from June 20-21; human chess competition on the afternoon of June 21 and the 1st Gia Lai Provincial Sports Festival Kickboxing Tournament from June 21-25, all take place at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square.
Launching ceremony for building a smoke-free environment at tourist attractions and accommodation establishments on the morning of June 20 in Quy Nhon ward; Conference to promote the development of cruise tourism products taking place at 2:00 PM on June 20 at the Provincial Convention Center.
In addition to the main activities, many response programs will take place before, during and after the opening ceremony throughout the province.
Notable highlights include the Final of the Vo Nhac Competition on June 6 at Hoi Phu embankment, Pleiku ward; stilt race, crossbow shooting, stick pushing at Nguyen Chi Thanh High School and Pleiku Sports Center; Badminton Tournament of Gia Lai Provincial Sports Festival I from June 20-25 at Quy Nhon Stadium Sports Center.
Tug of war, karate, vovinam, Central and Central Highlands Open Chess Tournaments and many other sports activities take place in Pleiku and Quy Nhon.
The province also organizes the international scientific conference "Connecting the Highlands: The Role of the Central Region in the Transformation of a Global Vietnam" in June 2026 in Quy Nhon ward; Hoai Nhon Coconut and Sea Festival from June 17-28, in Hoai Nhon ward; Hung Luong Dam Fishing Bridge Festival from June 24-27, in Quy Nhon Dong ward; Street carnival program "Quy Nhon Nam - Sea and Forest Journey - A Destination" from June 26-28;
Folk Bai Choi playing festival at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square on Friday and Saturday evenings every week, from May to August 2026; Dien Hong Food Street operates from 5pm daily; "Weekend Gong" program along with traditional martial arts performance nights, Tuong and Bai Choi in Pleiku and Quy Nhon until the end of 2026.
With a series of events taking place throughout the summer, Gia Lai expects to spread the image of a safe, friendly, and culturally rich destination; and at the same time stimulate tourism demand, attract tourists and create motivation to promote local socio-economic development.
