Hanoi receives international award for sustainable tourism

The 12th General Meeting of the Global cities Tourism Promotion Organization (TPO) honored Hanoi in the "Sustainable Tourism" category.

The Hanoi Department of Tourism officially participated in the 12th Global Tourism Promotion Organization (TPO) Congress held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 3 to 6, 2025.

The event, themed Shaping the future of tourism: Towards digital transformation and greening, was attended by about 300 delegates from member cities, tourism organizations, media outlets and stakeholders around the world.

A notable point in this 12th TPO event is that Hanoi was honored in the "Sustainable Tourism" category within the framework of the TPO Best Awards 2025.

This is one of the most important categories of the TPO Best Awards 2025. This is not only a reward for the persistent efforts of the Capital's tourism industry, but also a testament to the harmonious development vision between environmental conservation, promoting cultural values and promoting economic growth.

The award recognizes practical initiatives from policies, infrastructure to community activities that the capital has been implementing such as: encouraging accommodation establishments and restaurants to limit the use of disposable plastic items; Installing a system of signs and trash bins at relic sites; Developing green tourism products; Organizing community events such as "Green Sunday"... These are important steps to help the capital's tourism keep up with Vietnam's Net Zero 2050 commitment.

Hanoi tourism industry was honored by TPO in the Sustainable Tourism category, a clear demonstration of the citys sustainable development orientation, while also in line with the global trend that TPO is promoting. This is also an opportunity for Hanoi to continue expanding cooperation, seeking support in terms of experience, technology and resources from member cities, thereby improving competitiveness on the international tourism map, emphasized Ms. Dang Huong Giang - Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism.

This TPO event also increases investment attraction, attracts tourists, and creates motivation for Hanoi to develop smart - green - sustainable tourism in the new period.
