Hanoi earns nearly VND52,000 billion from tourism, international visitors increase by more than 20%

Hanoi's tourism industry continues to grow positively in the context of challenges surrounding many domestic and international economic sectors.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first 5 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to the capital is estimated at 12.77 million, an increase of 10.9% over the same period in 2024.

International tourists are estimated to reach 3.16 million, an increase of 20.2% over the same period in 2024 (including 2.23 million international tourists staying); domestic tourists are estimated to reach 9.61 million, an increase of 7.8% over the same period in 2024.

Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND51,940 billion, up 14.1% over the same period in 2024.

In May 2025 alone, the total number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated at 2.72 million, an increase of 16.9% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 567,370, an increase of 25% over the same period in 2024 (including 400,000 international tourists staying).

Local tourists are estimated to reach 2.16 million visitors, an increase of 14.9% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 10,540 billion, up 19% over the same period in 2024.

The number of international visitors to Hanoi has grown steadily, especially from key markets such as Japan, Korea, China, France and the US.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang commented that in the context of many difficulties and challenges facing the domestic and international economy, many economic sectors and fields have low recovery and growth rates, the capital's tourism industry continues to recover and develop, achieving many positive results.

"The development targets of the industry have high growth, exceeding the set plans, in which the target of international tourists with an increase of 16.9% compared to the same period in the same period in 2024 is the most impressive growth target, followed by the total target from tourism, with a growth rate of 19% compared to the same period in the same period in 2024," Ms. Dang Huong Giang said.

It is expected that in the first 6 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi will reach 15.55 million, an increase of 11.8% over the same period in 2024.

International tourists are estimated to reach 3.66 million visitors, an increase of 21.8% over the same period in 2024 (including 2.58 million international tourists staying), domestic tourists are estimated to reach 11.9 million visitors, an increase of 9.0% over the same period in 2024.

Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 62,299 billion, up 14.6% over the same period in 2024.

The capital's tourism industry sets out 5 key goals, tasks and solutions in the last 6 months of 2025: Improving the effectiveness of State management; Building tourism products, cooperation in promotion and market development; Propaganda, promotion and promotion of tourism; Promoting digital transformation; Building a safe, friendly and civilized tourism environment.

The tourism industry will deploy the construction of a community tourism model associated with the practical experience of traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities in Thach That district, Quoc Oai district.

In addition, continuing to promote and develop tourism products is Hanoi's strength as culinary tourism, MICE tourism, health care tourism, etc.
