This ranking is based on an analysis of Google search data on flights, hotels and travel itineraries each year, conducted by UK-based travel insurance company InsureandGo.
The list shows the change in global tourism trends, in which Hanoi stands out thanks to its rich cultural heritage, historical works and unique cuisine. Famous destinations such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and the ancient town attract millions of visitors each year.
In addition, Hanoi cuisine with dishes such as pho, bun cha, cha ca La Vong and banh cuon Thanh Tri is also highly appreciated by international visitors.
The 15 most attractive cities for tourists include: Tokyo (Japan); Rio de Janeiro (Brazil); Beijing (China); Lucerne (Switland); Kuwait City (Kuwait); Seville ( Spain); Chicago (USA); Belize (Belize); Chiang Mai (Thailand); Tbilisi (Georgia); Nassau (Bahamas); Jakarta (Indonesia); Santiago (Chile); Buenos Aires (Argentina).
The study also recorded a decline in tourists' interest in some destinations. Havana (Cuba) was the city that saw the biggest decline, with searches down 28%.
Some other cities with reduced interest include: Miami (USA), Kingston (Jamaica), Nadi (Fiji), Gdańsk (Poland), Las Vegas (USA), Apia (Samoa), Stockholm (Sweden), Brussels ( Belgium), Berlin (Germany), London (UK), Wellington (New Zealand), Singapore, Dubai (UAE) and Delhi (India).
This trend reflects the increasing desire of tourists to explore destinations with strong cultural identity and less affected by tourism overload. Hanoi, with its unique combination of history, culture and cuisine, is increasingly becoming an attractive choice on the global tourism map.
