Hanoi in the top most friendly cities in the world

Hanoi has just been honored as one of the friendliest cities in the world, ranked 11th in a new global survey conducted by Time Out magazine.

The survey surveyed 18,500 residents in cities around the world, asking them the level of welcome and kindness of the people where they live. The results show that Hanoi is in the group of 20 most friendly cities globally, along with Chiang Mai (Thailand), Abu Dhabi and Dubai (UAE), along with many destinations in Europe, America, Africa and Australia.

Time Out said the rankings are not only based on hospitality, but also consider factors such as green space, art, culture and happiness level, to paint a comprehensive picture of the liveliness and vitality of each city.

Porto ( portugal) tops the list, with 85% of residents describing their neighbors as friendly and hospitable. This city also scored high for its beauty, happiness and quality of life, and was recently honored as the "World's Leading City Destination" at the World Travel Awards 2025.

Following is Spain with Bilbao in second place, along with three other cities including Madrid, Valencia and Seville in the rankings.

Medellin - Colombia's second largest city - ranked third, thanks to its vibrant atmosphere, diverse cuisine and openness of the people; 69% of residents said tourists will be warmly welcomed.

Hanoi's participation in the list not only strengthens the city's international appeal, but also shows the image of a warm, hospitable capital - something that many tourists share that they felt right from the first moments they set foot in Vietnam.

Time Out is a lifestyle and travel magazine founded in London in 1968, currently operating mainly on digital platforms, providing reputable suggestions for restaurants, events and local experiences around the world.
