According to information from Lao Cai Railway Transport Station, this morning (September 24), train number SP4 departing from Hanoi station arrived at Lao Cai station after a long journey through a route repaired after the flood many days ago.
Ms. Do Thi Gam, Head of Lao Cai Railway Transport Station, said that this train had 387 passengers, equivalent to the number of passengers traveling by train on weekends before the floods.
The train arrived at Lao Cai station nearly 2.5 hours later than usual, however, passengers on this train, mostly foreign tourists, did not feel bothered because the railway industry had announced the schedule in advance.
Outside the station, a long line of transport vehicles from tourism and travel agencies were waiting to pick up visitors to Sa Pa, Bac Ha and other tourist attractions in Lao Cai province.
Previously, the Hanoi - Lao Cai railway line was severely affected by floods and storm No. 3. Therefore, the railway industry mobilized human resources to focus on repairing and clearing the road on September 15.
However, along the route there are still many points that have not been completely repaired, causing the train speed to be limited to 10 - 15 km/h, so up to now only freight trains run.
Based on the actual situation, from the evening of September 23, the railway industry has resumed the operation of the SP3/SP4 trains to serve tourists. However, the journey will be 30-60 minutes longer than usual to ensure safety in all aspects. The SP3 train schedule departs from Hanoi station at 10:00 p.m., and the SP4 train departs from Lao Cai station at 9:30 p.m.
